Mr.Vic20
It does make me wonder, if Nvidia can't handle CAPCHA, how will it fair as the brains in our future autonomous cars? The press release reads: Nvidia underestimated the consumers desire to live and for that we apologize!

Keyser_Soze
10% - 15% faster but 40% - 50% bigger!

Well, 10-15% faster is a bit misleading because that's at 4k. 3080 also "loses" performance when at lower resolutions than 4k compared to previous cards. Compare 3080 and 3090 8k performance. We might not be the gifted people trying to game at 8k right now, but it's clear it kicks the shit out of the 3080 in that particular scenario! jaethos
EVGA have invited me to visit their Elite Member page at release tomorrow. I'm sure it's so that when it sells out instantly I am at least looking at a fancier web page, or something. I'm not paying $1500 for a video card anyway. HGLatinBoy
I'm telling you guys now the 3080 is a trap. In a year or less you'll see the 3080ti for $1000+ with more Vram than the 3070ti. As well as a new Titan Amp for $2000

The lowered performance (gap) in sub-UHD is from CPU bottlenecks. The 3090 being an “8k card” compared to the 3080 is likely more-so tied to the 24gb of VRAM vs the 10gb on the 3080 than performance simply growing at higher resolutions (since 4k is not currently CPU limited). Spork3245
Lol apparently nVidia put up more 3080s around 2-3am, and so did BestBuy
Mr.Vic20
In reality, its likely to go down like this: 1.) 1 second after 9:00EST, nothing changes 2.) site crashes or something stops you from checking out 3.) refresh to find that site service is intermittent 4.) keep trying without luck for 10 frantic seconds 5.) out of stock 6.) site crashes again 7.) Later people say it was up for them, just not you 8.) profit
Mr.Vic20
Heads up 3090 hunters, apparently many (all?) AIB vendors' 3090 stock goes live at 12:00pm EST, so three hours after Nvidia's. Check your prefer vendor for details!

Brian
Title should be changed if everyone strikes out once again to ‘The official RTX 3000 series paper launch event thread & subsequent quest to strive in vain to find paper!’

Ominous
I'm gonna try for a 3090 today, don't have faith my existing order with no name Ohio store will ever ship. If I end up with 2 I'll just consider it an extra tax.
Mr.Vic20
I don't recall Nvidia apologize in advance in the past, so you know that this will be an even greater shit show than the 3080 "launch". The pessimist in me says I have a -5% chance to score one, but the optimist says I have a 0% chance!
