silentbob
CNN was just saying that they believe it still has enough time that it could possibly reach a Category 5.

If it gets to like 150 its pretty negligible whether it hits that last 7 mph or not.
marioandsonic
So the latest advisory just came out. Good news: The wind speed hasn't increased. Bad news: The hurricane's pressure is still dropping, which usually indicates further strengthening.

SaysWho?
This reminds me of Michael. That thing intensified rapidly into a Cat 5 prior to landfall. I don't know what that shear will do to this big ass storm with so little time.

PaladinSolo
Now up to 145 mph, nuts how fast these change anymore.
marioandsonic
It's expected now to be at 150 by landfall. Not quite a cat 5, but that's like comparing having to eat a giant turd sandwich versus eating a giant turd sandwich with a small amount of ketchup. Our tour guide said the first question they always get is “How bad was the flooding” from the storm. He said that they didn’t get flooded and got the exact opposite because the storm actually suck all the water out of the bayous and rivers. They could see the bottom and a neighbour I think lost his grandmother for the 2nd time. By which I mean from her grave, but they found her down on the river bed. They lost her again a few years later from flooding, but again, found her

marioandsonic
Looks like it will make landfall in a couple hours with 150 mph winds. Will be interesting to see how the damage looks in the morning.

I know what you mean. I like admiring them from faaaaar away. I especially love storms that rapidly intensify in the Atlantic and then watch them fall apart to wind shear and cooler waters. If there's anything people should take away: 1) Extended forecasts detailing a storm's track have gotten significantly better with significantly less of a margin of error than in the 80s and 90s. 2) Intensity forecasts have no gotten any better at all, which meteorologists will openly tell you.
