Greatoneshere
In terms of misinterpreting movies, I think this one is severely underrated and regularly misinterpreted: Bobcat Goldthwaite's God Bless America. Same goes for the aforementioned Fight Club, American History X, American Beauty, Choke, and so forth. People think depiction is endorsement and stop there and embrace (or reject it) outright, and miss the subersive (or not so subversive) satire and indictment underneath. Seems pretty on point now. A lot of white people sympathized so well with Ed Norton's character that they don't see the film as an indictment of hate and hate culture (the film it is) but rather get deeply tribalistic and only reaffirms their casual racism as justified. I agree with you completely, but as people said, Falling Down was pretty overt and people missed the message in that one.

I'm not a fan of the guy but the best thing to do is ignore him if you don't give a shit. Getting all worked up over this makes no sense... with his resources, there's very little his family and friends can do except hope he calms down and let himself be helped.

It was really cool to see Dave Chappelle among those buddies of Kanye that flew out to Wyoming to hang with Kanye yesterday and probably help him calm down and stuff. That's being a good friend. ort
Meh, I stand by what I said. Being BiPolar doesn't make you think slavery is a choice. Being bipolar doesn't make you say stupid crap about Harriet Tubman. He had a flipping public event and invited everyone to come hear him speak, stood up on a soap box and said a bunch of stupid crap. We have every right in the world to listen to his words and react to them as we wish. He invited it on himself.

He didn't say that shit because he's bipolar, you're right. But that's not what we're referring to here. And on the flipside, him getting help or back on his meds to address his bipolar episodes won't mean that he won't think slavery was a choice. There are two different issues at work here. ort
Apparently Kim Kardasian posted an American flag on instagram in response to his announcing his run for president. Sounds like she is really trying to help him, avoid attention and has his back... I mean, it's great that her PR person wrote this for her, and I do sympathize with people struggling with mental health issues, but let's not act like he's some sort of victim here. Dude is a billoinarre with access to the best mental health care in the world... and he's also putting himself out there as the potential leader of the free world, literally saying, SEE ME AND HEAR ME, I WANT TO LEAD YOU! and we're supposed to just look away and feel bad for him? Nah. I'll happily look away, and I generally do, but come on man.

Nah. All the money in the world won’t buy you the mental fitness to seek help. I have a sister who is bipolar and schizophrenic and the real game changer for our family was when we stopped trying to reason with her when she was in the midst of a bad episode. Because you can’t. It’s hard enough when she has been consistent with the medication regime she is on. You don’t have to feel bad for the guy to not hold a ridiculous opinion that a mentally ill person should pull themselves up by their bootstraps and get help with said mental illness. CastlevaniaNut18
Season 3 was great. Tom Pelphry did a phenomenal job at portraying someone with a severe mental illness. Spoiler Ruth was an idiot for busting him out of the state hospital. She caused his death.

mclumber1
Except for the deaths in first episode of the first season, all the following deaths are really Marty Byrd's fault, even when he wasn't the one who pulled the trigger.

skillzdadirecta
I'm not even saying have compassion for him... I'm saying why let it get your panties in a bunch. There's a ton of shit that goes on in the world that I couldn't give two shit about. You'd never know it though because I don't waste energy talking about it. Kanye's money and resources is THE REASON it's hard to get him help. You can't commit BROKE people against their wills unless they are clear and present dangers to themselves or others. I think Kanye is a buffoon and I always HAVE felt that way about him. At least this partially explains WHY he's so moronic. Partially... I use various online message boards as a form of anger release. That said, I also challenge you to find anything that even amounts to 1% of saying that American slaves were slaves by choice. Calling Trump followers evil idiots? You know, I stand by that. I could write a book defending my position on that one. What else have you got? If I say something you think is wrong, please call me out on it. Challenge me. I love it... I really truly do. Call me out. We're all better people when we listen (and really listen) to other opinions. I want to be called out for my shit. I don;'t want to live in a bubble. If what I say is fucked up or wrong, say so. I actually like Kanye's music... well, some of it... the earlier stuff... I own like 3 or 4 of his album... but I've always found pretty much everything about his persona to be abhorrent and gross. I also suffer from mental health problems (the 'ol depression/anxiety combo attack — shocker I know) and it's fucked my life all up, trust me... but I am in therapy and I'm trying to work on my shit and I would never use it as an excuse to say anything even remotely close to saying the sort of ignorant crap Kanye has.
