That was something you pointed out and it looks like they did the same thing here. Minus the bushes she can hide in which moved in the first one. While impressive, it didn't blow me away at all. It only looked more advanced in spots compared to the first so I'm a bit disappointed. Still, it looks cool and I'll eventually play it. Probably just on my ps4 pro. The scale will probably be most impressive with a dynamic sky this go around, too. She spoke to herself a lot in the first game. Nothing new here. It could be worse than not moving, it could be the weird 2 frames of animation the crops in Re8 have! The geometry is significantly improved though. Maybe static isn’t the right word, but the first one just seemed like you were walking on a world someone drew rather than being in it, idk how to describe it, but it felt kind of hollow. It seems much less so the case here.

Na, I’m playing maxed out on pc! like brush up against them they just fall flat like props and there is no dof blur or anything when close to them to block how low poly they are. Since I’ve decided to be weirdly hung up on this, I’ve been checking out how other games do it, usually some effect or something to obscure, or in the rare case actual nice looking foliage. Nothing seemed interactive but maybe this will be different. Don't get me wrong, it looked great overall. I was actually expecting better though. It's still still early in this gen though. 15 hours ago, Xbob42 said: Is that a console exclusive thing or something? I really never noticed anything terribly unusual about RE8's crops. Mercury33
I LOVED the first game. It’s easily one of my favorite open world games. But I do remember it having the extreme misfortune of coming out right after Breath of the Wild. So it’s static world, was made even more glaring than it normally would have been. Honestly I don’t think it’s world was really any worse in that way than 90% or the open world games out there.

Keyser_Soze
There seems to be people who don't like Sony's "ugly" ladies. Don't know if any of you have seen the comments from Returnal but yikes. That being said I do think Anne Beyer looks better than what they have in the game.
Dre801
I have no issue with a female character model not being stunningly hot, so the more average looking main character in Returnal leaves me nothing to complain about.

SimpleG
You can always tell when someone complains about a female characters body like Aloy's for being to masculine , that they dont do any thing physical. lifting your body weight over and over aging gives you a wide back and big arms/shoulders

Greatoneshere
I'm just gonna give two weird examples of encountering this in my own life, and being flabbergasted by both. Just straight up confused. Please note both examples are from socially well-adjusted doctors, intelligent and smart people who date, are married, etc. etc. Not incel losers in their mom's basement. (1) A college friend and roommate of mine was a gamer (we're no longer friends, but not just because of this example) back in 2008. He definitely was a bit homophobic (which may play into things here) but one day I was discussing FF13 coming out and he was like: "I'm not interested in that one" and I was confused because he liked Final Fantasy. So I asked him "why?" and he said because it starred a female character to play as (Lightning) and he said he couldn't suspend his disbelief of the story if he starred as a female character because it was too different than him as a man. I tore down his logic of course (you've played as a black man when you're South Korean, how'd you understand what it's like to be a black man but not a white woman in a fantasy setting? etc.). Point is, he couldn't even play as a female character in a story heavy game at all. Imagine if we asked him to play as a woman that isn't super model weird looking attractive. (2) This example is way weirder and more recent. My younger brother, who is super nice and super progressive, was discussing playing The Last of Us Part 2 and he said he couldn't stand Abby and I asked him why and he said "it's because she looks ugly/too masucline" and I was extremely befuddled. He's a totally normal guy and suddenly he shared the same opinion as incels. I challenged him on it and he said he understood the incel thing etc. but he said "it's just not as fun, I play games for escapism, etc." bullshit. I'm still stunned he had this opinion. Point is, totally regular guy, never would have expected this. For what it's worth he thinks the same for male characters too (he wants them to be attractive). So, take those examples how you will. I'm super attracted to Aloy personally, loved the first game, and I think her super competent personality helps in my attraction to her. I never saw her as "masculine" per se, just a very in shape/crossfit type woman. I mean, she's a fucking hunter doing athletic feats of greatness on the daily. She looks great. I always felt the "super hot actors in stories" thing was weird and off putting. Like in CW shows everything is so neat and clean, everyone's hair is always so perfect, injuries are always in cool places, etc. I prefer realistic people in real stories. Super hot is not realistic. I mean seriously, this shit is getting old. Amber Heard. Brie Larson. Aloy. Abby. Selene. Kelly Marie Tran/Rose. Daisy Ridley/Rey. Like enough already. We get it - women doing stuff for themselves and not to cater to you scares you. Can we move on now?

Our country elected a black man before a woman was even taken seriously enough to be elected. This doesn't mean our country isn't racist, it just means we're even more misogynistic than racist. I've encountered numerous well educated men a that simply can't articulate why they have trouble with seeing women as leaders or heroes. The true master race to lookout for is men. Men often genuinely feel they are superior to women. Its weird, and yet very common.

Reminds me of that Tarantino interview from a few years back. In Conversation With Quentin Tarantino WWW.VULTURE.COM Midway through his eighth movie, the director discusses writing scripts by hand, ‘90s nostalgia, and becoming — relatively — mellow with time. Quote And The Fighter had impeccable casting. As an example, I really liked The Town, which also came out in 2010. It was a good crime film. However, next to The Fighter, it just couldn’t hold up, because everybody in The Town is beyond gorgeous. Ben Affleck is the one who gets away with it, because his Boston accent is so good. But the crook is absolutely gorgeous. The bank teller is absolutely gorgeous. The FBI guy is absolutely gorgeous. The town whore, Blake Lively, is absolutely gorgeous. Jeremy Renner is the least gorgeous guy, and he’s pretty fucking good-looking. Then, if you look at The Fighter, and you look at those sisters, they’re just so magnificent. When you see David O. Russell cast those sisters, and you see Ben Affleck cast Blake Lively, you can’t compare the two movies. One just shows how phony the other is.

Its weird, and yet very common. It's true and unfortunately the double standard everywhere you look. Women just want a place at the table but men chase them off or try to hold them at a lower standard than themselves. I think when it comes to gaming it's even worse. Women will get harassed online just because they are a girl, either someone wants to hook up with them or they'll try to belittle them for just trying to play a game. A woman always has to loo perfect or some guy will mention something (No makeup, she's ugly / too much makeup, she's a slut / wearing something comfortable that shows cleavage, she's trying to be provoacative/ and so on) yet a guy will never run into this Tides are shifting slowly and at the same time more disgusting than they have ever been. Back when I was a kid anyone who played video games was a nerd outcast. These says being a "nerd" of something is a badge of honor, and girls will proudly proclaim they like video games, when back in my day it was something to be laughed at. It was also generally understood that it was a thing for boys. I personally only knew one girl who played video games (PC games at that, that's where I first saw Day of the Tentacle ) but yeah, it was weird I only went to her house once and she was kind of a distant memory, but I certainly would have loved to have seen as many girls today that play games when I was growing up. So they are trying to make game characters more inclusive, adding more female characters, realistic looking ones not barbie dolls, and then the game characters are trying to be held to the same standards as real life women. So yeah, a long way around of saying men suck I guess. @Greatoneshere can finish my thoughts for me.
