skillzdadirecta
This one I would actually want to see if only to see more of Leto's Joker.
johnny
I don’t wish to see this at all. Especially since we are getting a James Gunn SS.
SoberChef
I too would thoroughly enjoy Ayer's true vision of what he intended with this film. *EDIT* Also if he could include all finished scenes that necessarily didn't make his cut, but were still left out of either version! CitizenVectron
From what I understand it was quite different. Joker didn't go to save Harley Quinn, he went to kill her, etc. Entire plot threads were the opposite of what we saw.
TheLeon
I can imagine that a director's cut could turn Suicide Squad into a decent, enjoyable movie. At least more than Justice League.
number305
So since people seem to be into this... at what point does it get abused by studios? It would be a cheap way to make extra money - film a little bit extra on every movie - then release a new directors cut after 2 years to see extra dollars roll in. Now you get to pay to see every movie multiple times with slightly different parts. You would think this would only work with good movies, but apparently that is right out the window with what is happening now.

They aren’t usually as high profile as #thesnydercut, but this has been happening for a long time. So many DVDs were advertised as extended or “unrated”, where they basically take a couple deleted scenes and add them back in. That might be for the original DVD release, or one they do a year or two later with a few extra behind the scenes features on a second disk in a “collector’s edition”. The difference is having some sort of a 'release' like what they are doing for Justice League. This is being propped up as a driver for sales for HBO MAX. Not just another dvd. EternallDarkness
would a director's cut actually make the story anywhere near coherent?
Greatoneshere
Suicide Squad already had a director's cut. I guess this would be another director's cut?

They're taking a page out of the video game playbook wherein remasters/re-releases/re-imaginings are released constantly.

Yeah, it's an extended cut of the film that adds 13 minutes to the film, mostly additional Joker scenes which help flesh things out a bit. It's the only version I've seen. Doesn't make the movie good but it wasn't bad either.
