mclumber1
If you are going to hand out money, give it to everyone. Don't means test it. That just inroduces ineficiences. If you get it and you don't need it - donate it to someone who can get more use out of it. Make it a tax write off in fact.

And if you're going to whine about rich people getting it, raise their fucking taxes. It's so much easier this way

CitizenVectron
Also, who gets cheques? Everyone? Citizens? Residents? Natural-born citizens? White citizens who are job creators? I can't imagine the GOP will hand out this money without some horrible restriction.

CitizenVectron
2 or 3 restaurants closed nearby today (permanently) and a few more seem to be on the way.

There are a few restaurants I love that are on the verge of doing the same. It's cool, though. I'm sure $1000 in a month and a half would make everything better. sexy_shapiro
I work hourly and my hours have been cut severely this week. I’m only working 12 hours this week. I had a second part time job lined up to begin for this weekend but I’ve been notified yesterday that it’s been cancelled until further notice. I could really use that government assistance sooner than later.
mclumber1
The people we bought our new house from will likely be laid off from their job at one of the casinos here in Vegas. They were even having a new home being built right now. Supposedly they will be able to back out of the contract and get their deposit back, which is good I guess. Plus they'll have some equity to live off of from the sale of the house for awhile.

For anyone who isn’t familiar with them, McMenamins is a group that owns multiple really cool businesses throughout Oregon. For example, for one of them, they converted an old elementary school into a bar, restaurant, hotel, movie theater, etc. The old detention room was converted into a cigar bar. I believe they brew their own beer and make their own wine. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area and if they reopen.

SuperSpreader
We are about 200 points from losing all gains in the s&p since trump took office (Jan '17). The Dow is right there on the edge, inches away. 1
