Brick
It's a direct sequel to the original. Guess that means soft reboot where they ignore the other sequels, like Halloween 2018.
Ghost_MH
That looks really good. I'm always up for good horror and this didn't look like a boring jumpscare-fest.

SimpleG
Even if your not interested in Candyman , this should be watched. There isnt any blood or gore but that doesnt make it any easier to watch.

silentbob
That is one creepy trailer, but a good creepy. That will have me waiting for a disc/streaming release in the comfort of my own home (but Covid restriction might do that for me too)

Bloodporne
I didn't realize this was a direct sequel? Slightly more interested now. I wasn't able to watch with sound just yet bit did they change the origin story?

While the screenplay was co-written by Jordan Peele (along with Win Rosenfeld and Nia DiCosta) this is really a Nia DiCosta film, since she's co-writing and directing it. Her claim to fame was the indie film Little Woods (starring Tessa Thompson and Lily James) from 2018. This looks to build on that interesting film, in a good way. But I'd only credit Jordan Peele's involvement creatively so much though I will say he not only co-wrote it but he is producing it (not just executive producing it, a very different role vs. producing). So his involvement is more than the usual as well.

The original had a tragic tone I loved and I just remember the sequel being artless trash.

Brick
I thought I heard that 2 and 3 would still be part of the canon for this.

I don't know for sure - I was going off of Wikipedia which says it's only following the original (ala David Gordon Green's Halloween). Best
That looks solid. I met the original Candyman actor in 2004 and he was scary in person. I'd thought they bring him back for this.

Yeah I double checked and couldn't find anything. Even my first post I say it's a sequel to the first film with no mention of the other ones. Maybe I'm thinking of a different soft reboot sequel, or I've confused myself.

I always remember that fondly because both of them were super cool and surprisingly chatty.

Which make me super excited, Tony Todd is damn fine actor. His role as Ben in the remake NOTLD was so good and while the other actors/actress were not really notable , he carried that film. I really hate to use this term but I feel like hes underrated.

Robert Englund was my favorite because Freddy Krueger was my favorite growing up as a kid. Even Andy from Child's Play was there lol. 11 minutes ago, SimpleG said: Per IMDB he is in it and he is cast as Candyman. Which make me super excited, Tony Todd is damn fine actor. Greatoneshere
Tony Todd is back as Candyman guys, Tony Todd is a great actor in a ton of things. Part of the reason to even be interested in this is they brought him back.
