AbsolutSurgen
Finished up DMC 5 this weekend... It was "OK". I haven't played a character action game in a while -- and I think this one was somewhat lacking. It is a little bit "mashy", particularly early in the game, and I really had a hard time getting into most of the combos being primarily timing based. But what really turned me off was having three completely different characters, with such different attack styles, being used in such a short game. I had very little issue getting "SSS" with V, and "SS" with Dante -- but I struggled getting much better than "S" with Nero. I really think they would have done much better letting the player work on learning one combat style, rather than three. Particularly with such a short game. Also started up Just Cause 4. I REALLY like how chaotic this game is -- they really create a lot of fun systems to play around with. I really wish the rest of the game lived up to how much fun the basic systems are... Brian
I started Call of the Sea on Game Pass. I needed another game to play as I go through Valhalla. Valhalla feels even larger than Odyssey and that game is huge.
chakoo
I finally finished judgment. Man that final boss started out awesome but that last bit was total bullshit (I blame them needing a way to extend it). Now that the story is done I’ll probably play it a little longer to wrap up some of the side content before I jump to the next game (probably yakuza 0). Keyser_Soze
Got all the achievements in Tell Me Why meaning I had to beat it a second time (Technically a 3rd but you only have to do the last part again) I kinda like the idea of the Allyson ending but if you go the bad playthrough it's a bit dark. Dodger
Cyber Punk but I got a lot of things I want to rotate through. Too many games and not enough time as always.
crispy4000
I play Hades pretty much every day. I've read that you need to beat it 10 times to 'finish' which is what I'm aiming for. But I also want to space out my attempts since it's a lot to do all at once. It'd be nice to play other games in the meanwhile. So some days I swear I won't play Hades. But no other game is as instantly fun as Hades. So I'll boot something else up for an hour, ditch whatever it is, and go right back.

DMC 5 was an "SSS" level disappointment for me. There is so much wrong with that game, it's brutal. I absolutely hated the V missions and thought they brought the game's already sputtering momentum to a screeching halt. I was just settling in with Nero, getting into a groove, and...here's a new and incredibly weird and shitty combat system. That's outside of the too-low difficulty on a first playthrough, nonstop cutscene/mini-cutscene interruptions, absolutely dreadful level design and lifeless art design and on and on. The fact you can actually mash your way through the game even on its highest available initial difficulty is egregious for a DMC game for me. The core combat system, Nero's and Dante's that is, was great but it's been great since DMC3 so I'm not really sure I can give it that much credit for that even. The thing I love about Hades when I started it (back when the Bone Hydra was the "final boss") is how you feel as you realize you're getting better as a player. The first time I got to the Hydra I was all like, "This is bullshit, how is anyone supposed to beat this thing?". Now he's barely a speed bump, even on clean runs. :P Currently playing: Avengers, ACNH, and Monster Hunter: World
crispy4000
Hydra always felt easy to me. The Elysium bosses continue to be annoying as hell for me though.
Bloodporne
I'm still really enjoying my time with Alundra (PS1), really great and well-designed game. The dungeons are the type of shit they don't make anymore.
Keyser_Soze
Started Jedi Fallen Order - So far it seems like the best piece of Star Wars fiction in a long time. Seems to be a bit more uncharted than it is a "soulslike" though (Just after the first level in any case)

I think we are mostly on the same page. I played through on the Devil Hunter difficulty -- I recognize the designers really want you to hone your skills through multiple playthroughs -- but I never could really get into this difficulty, so I bounced off the game. I would agree that Devil Hunter can be beat by being mostly mashy (although, I don't think you can beat Vergil by being mashy, unless you are using lots of red/gold orbs). After finishing the game, I was really surprised at how positive the critical reception was for it... If someone asked me if they should pick it up -- my response would be "probably not, it's OK but there are so many better games out there to play". 10 minutes ago, Keyser_Soze said: Started Jedi Fallen Order - So far it seems like the best piece of Star Wars fiction in a long time. The tutorial section (Bracca) is very linear -- but, IMHO, the rest of the game has a very different feel to it.
dualhunter
Shrine of the God Ape. Took me just over an hour to finish but it cost less than a dollar. The bosses were a bit annoying so I'm kind of glad it was short but overall it was enjoyable enough for the cost.
atom631
There are so many games I’m dipping into right now and nothing is really hooking me in. Mostly cyberpunk - story is good everything else is meh new COD - just feels like a cheaper MW19 New Spidey - more of the same. AC: Valhalla - like every AC game for me - fun for 20ish hours and then just kinda fizzles Demon Souls - only got it today and played for about an hour. It’s oozing with atmosphere and the story/lore is really awesome in context of the environment. But I’m just not into punishment as a form of entertainment. I went for a while, unlocked a shortcut and then died. having to start all the way back at the beginning (even with a shortcut) to just die again after a little bit of progress is brutal. Dre801
The Order 1886, got it for five bucks; still quite impressive in terms of graphics and presentation, but that's where the high points end, not much of a game.
gamer.tv
Dark Souls on the Switch. I’ve beaten the Taurus Demon by using Fire Bombs and running and away and just acquired the Drake Sword. I just need to level up a bit to wield it one handed and then push on. Update: Bumped my strength up to 16 and oh my Dragon Swords the Drake Sword is decent. Update 2: At the Stone Gargoyles and died a few times, but I don’t have any humanity so I’ll have a few more goes at it tomorrow. Really, with fire bombs, pyro and a decent sword it shouldn’t take too long - if I can concentrate for a decent length of time on them. Done. No idea where to go next. dualhunter
Started Alwa's Awakening.
dualhunter
Finished Alwa's Awakening. It's a relatively short, NES style Metroidvania. It can be tough but once you know what to do it can be easy. I died 169 times though that includes defeating the final boss a second time after missing a hidden area that I went back and uncovered for 100% map completion. I got the GOG version bundled with the sequel (which is 16 bit style) so I had to use my Xbone controller instead of my Switch Pro controller that I usually use on Steam. Some of the deaths are due to sitting at the edge of Bluetooth range for the controller. The devs spent 2 years on the game and it seems like the carefully thought things through, difficulty scales well and the game is generally enjoyable. You only have 3 units of health with no health upgrades though you can find a flask that you can fill with water that will refill your health automatically when you run out. The problem with the flask is that because you can only refill it at certain spots you probably won't be able to use it for bosses unless you beat the boss first try. Again while the bosses can be tough, once you know what to do they're easy in which case you don't need the flask. If you like Metroidvanias give it a try, it and it's sequel, Alwa's Legacy are on sale on GoG and should be on sale again on Steam in a few days. I'm planning to play some other games before starting the sequel.
5timechamp
Still playing Wildlands.. Been trying to beat Ghost mode (beat the game without dying, die and the save file gets deleted).. Last week I had 3 separate files going (kinda like 3 different teams working different AOs), they all got killed.. This time its just one file, methodically taking missions and avoiding the more “challenging” missions until I level up my character enough.. Ubisoft is bad at taking care of gamers, but the Bolivia map they made is still amazing to play around in

AbsolutSurgen
Playing a lot more Just Cause 4. Probably about half way through. The story is garbage. It is janky AF. The mission design is terrible. The combat is not good. The "challenges" are a waste of time. Playing with the grapple/wingsuit/parachute/jetpack is amazing fun. I think I will actually finish this game -- even though it is objectively "not good".
Nokt
I've started Hollow Knight for the 5th time due to a friend playing through it and wanting to talk with someone about it. Also picked up Pathless on EGS with the $10 coupon. Reminds me of Ico honestly. Camera and aiming takes adjusting to, but its got a solid soundtrack and a good atmosphere. Dodger
Switching between CyberPunk and AC: Origins. Beat the main story and now that I think about it, this is the first AC game I actually finished. Might go back to AC:V, I don't know why but I just couldn't get into it. Probably doesn't help that I was playing a Demons Souls at the time and switching from the combat of that to any other TPS action game is aways jarring for me. gamer.tv
Thanks both. I also caved to my own peer pressure and bought Dead Cells, Hades, Golf Story and Undertale on the Switch just so I have them. I’ve played a tiny bit of Hades (died but didn’t feel like I was shot) and a bit more Dead Cells (died a few times and have no clue what I’m doing), but I think they’ll give me some enjoyment. It’s strange that I did play Links Awakening DX back in the day, though never made it anywhere (I was about...8). I actually ended up nearly finishing the re-release on the 3DS, but then my 3DS died a death so I wouldn’t say it’s nostalgic for me, but certainly familiar. It’s also wonderful.
