What is really shocking to me is how different all 3 games are -- they seem to share very little in game mechanics. They have the same characters, same potions, and signs. But, how they are implemented seems to be completely different in each game. I'm not sure I have ever seen a franchise vary this much from game-to-game. I am enjoying it so far, but my biggest surprise was that the game isn't an open world game. Still way too early to have any good thoughts/impressions on the gameplay. It's TOTALLY an open world game... is that a typo? Are you talking about the Witcher 2?

Well, it must mean it hasn't opened up for me (yet). I have been "trapped" in a relatively small area for most of the game so far. The map that I had suggested there would be four or five other similar areas that would open up as I progressed through the game.

5timechamp
- finally went back to Wildlands MP.. was worried i would not be up to snuff.. still a great tactical experience.. i still got it - played some Nes Double Dragon II the Revenge.... still got it, though its harder to throw the knee move.... might buy the arcade version -played Nes Rygar... still crap.. might get the arcade version for that too -played Nes Ice Hockey and got obliterated by the Ruskies

chakoo
I played some Game Gear games today. All the discussion on the micro made me pull out my GG to play but my unit was acting up. So I fixed the power/rebooting issue (loose cap) only to break the sound. =/ I finally got around to fixing the sound (another loose cap) tonight and then played a bunch of games for an hour. Good fun but I really need to look into the screen replacement mod or just keep waiting for the Analogue Pocket. 1 hour ago, skillzdadirecta said: Arcade Rygar was awesome... NES version? gamer.tv
I found we have Dragon Age: Origins on PS3, so I've tried that out. I'll be honest, I prefer Mass Effect, but it's been OK for the bit that I've played. The combat system is sort of lost on me, so I tend to just hack away with my character, occasionally use a potion, switch to move someone...but that's about it. Update: After my small chat with Bloodporne on the Breath of the Wild thread, I ended up playing the Gamecube version of Ocarina of Time and completed Dodongo's Cavern. Now that's a game that, despite being 22 years old, still feels beautiful to play.
Bloodporne
I honestly feel compelled to play through The Last Of Us on Grounded right after I finish it on Hard. I'm enjoying the combat so much and I want more of it. Not sure yet if I'll go straight into the sequel or do a replay.

gamer.tv
I just had a tax rebate of about £700 come through the post, so I'm going to pick up a few games. The Last of Us: Part 2 is a definite yes, I'll get a month of PS Now to download Spiderman and Control rather than buy them outright, alongside the other games you can download/stream with the subscription. In the maybe pile: Doom Eternal Final Fantasy 7 Resident Evil 3 Various Yakuza games Outer Worlds Outer Wilds In an ideal world, I would splurge on a Switch, but with a baby coming I'll put most of it into savings and then buy a few teaching books alongside a few games. Zaku3
Doing an Empire run in Warhammer 2. I decided to do it because I got into EU4 as well. Started playing with some of the guys in NA that play HOI4. @Emperor Diocletian II You know EU4 is one of the best games ever made. I was looking through tutorials and found one on how to crush the Protestant Reformation.

Obviously depends on your preference, but I found Doom Eternal kind of disappointing, and I would wait for a lower price on RE3 given how brisk it is. And I will continue to champion Outer Wilds every chance I get.

Nokt
Among Trees - It doesn't run particularly well. I had to turn down a ton of settings to get a somewhat "stable" experience. Its a good game to wind down to though.

Dodger
Started FF7R last night, not sure how I feel about. 2 hours in and it's already getting weird. Not sure how I feel about the combat. So far I don't mind it when solo, but then when I have Barrett I like it a little less. Also played a little New Super Mario Bros Delux to break in the Switch, jesus games take forever to download on that thing. Going to be playing TLOU2 tonight when it unlocks. You know, maybe having all 3 consoles is a curse, because I don't have anywhere near enough time to be rotating through all 3.

skillzdadirecta
Last of Us 2, Breath of the Wild and some PUBG. Bloodporne
Okami HD It's on sale for $9.99 and I really needed a break from only playing violent, grim shit all the time. I missed out on this back in the day and so far a few hours in it seems really cool. The art and music is gorgeous and I like the brush mechanic a lot. dualhunter
I've been playing Romancing SaGa 2. Except for the stupid difficulty I've been enjoying it. I pretty much have to save after every battle and reload if a party member dies which happens often.

I’m also hoping to get around to Okami this summer. Finishing up Ratchet & Clank reboot, and started up Spider-Man. Almost surprising they’re the same dev. But you can see it in both being mindless games that rely on their core gameplay loop being fun. Also playing some Kirby Epic Yarn on the side. That game still looks fantastic! Bloodporne
@ShreddieMercuryRising Since you commented on my Okami post in the other thread... I've got a question. I'm at around three and a half hours and the level of hand-holding and nonstop double and triple over-explanation of every thing is getting on my nerves hard. The atmosphere and art is really carrying this for me right now so my question is, does this aspect get any better? Am I still more or less in the tutorial phase here? I just did that first cave area and am cleared out the first larger 'field' area currently and it feels like I'm getting stopped by some tedious cutscene or my little companion guy every few steps I take and it was frustrating the hell out of me last night. gamer.tv
I'm hoping to get some more Last of Us: Part 2 in later today, so long as I can get my work finished at a reasonable time. I'd also like to get some more time on Ocarina of Time as my 'other' game for the time being as well (I'm up to Jabu Jabu, one of my least favourite areas...) UPDATE: Played for about an hour and a half this evening. I'm really enjoying the game and the small conversations that are woven into the exploration help make them more enjoyable. It's a good sign that when I'm not playing the game, I'm actively thinking about playing it, or just wanting to play it.

Yes, this seems to be the most common complaint about the game, and it definitely does get better pretty soon. The game should stop tutorializing pretty quickly based on where you are, so stick with it. Once you get to the first "dungeon", you've pretty much cleared the long intro part of the game. While it never really gets hard, the items and brush techniques that you unlock keep the combat fun throughout the length of the game imo. The levels and environments are also all pretty clever and interesting, so it's rewarding to push through the early tedium. Issun remains pretty annoying, but he stops bothering you incessantly once you are past the first couple sections of the game. I also think that despite its length, Okami is a game that gets better and better the further you get. There is some padding and some tedious stuff in there, but overall each act of the game is better than the last.

I was definitely going to keep going another hour or two but that's good to know. I really like the core game just man, this makes Skyward Sword's opening look like Dark Souls.
