Why does the existence of comorbidities make huge death tolls more acceptable? What the fuck? There's no state with an obesity rate, with obesity being one comorbidity, of less than 20%. So yeah you could say the population is chock full of preexisting issues that would be exacerbated by unchecked covid spread. By pointing out these people have other underlying issues the idea is to place blame on those who "weren't careful enough" and distract from the abject failure of the state, and trump and his administration specifically, in stemming the tide. The American right espouses self-reliance as one of their beliefs. So if you fail at something or die, it can only be your fault. Unless it's a white, conservative person who is still alive, any failure on them can be attributed to the government.
b_m_b_m_b_m
Self reliance is necessary when the state has zero (0) concern if you live or die. It's an ethos that democrats have as well, born of our incentives, but at least nominally push for something better

b_m_b_m_b_m
Our broken electoral system gave us what we have; the people, as in the number of voters who voted for a given rep or senator or president, did not. The bias of the senate towards small states disproportionately helps the right, and the EC makes the presidential vote hinge on the closest states, losing out the margins that Dems get in NY and CA, among others. NO this is not some elaborate shitty troll/prank, it 100 percent happened before I knew anything about that tweet. What the fuck? And before anyone tries to quiz me on it, obviously climate is getting hotter, but the intentional mandated spreading of covid thing just made headlines five hours ago while i was still asleep and the public had no knowledge of it. Will be interesting to see if the Cuomo camp continues to hold off as their current view is no theaters (movie or stage) until January 2021 at the earliest. If people could stick to wearing masks, being somewhat distant from one another, and shutting the fuck up, the movies could be about as safe as not wearing a mask outdoors in big groups apparently
