They are ripoffs. You'd be better off taking an Uber or taking the Path train. It's easier to take the Path or New Jersey Transit train into Manhattan than before and I'd argue that it's just as easy as taking the train from JFK. Shit they are just about the same distance from Manhattan so it's really dependent on where you're staying in the city. I've taken the train from Newark into Penn and then the LIRR twice this past year and the Jersey train goes straight from the airport (via short airtrain ride) into Penn. It's super easy and the train runs every...something like 25 minutes. EWR and JFK are basically the same trip time/effort wise from my experience if you're staying in Manhattan. Also, I think EWR is typically cheaper to fly into than JFK so considering that, might be worth looking at that. Again, at least in my experience. Yeah I wasn't saying that the ride time is significantly different, just that I think you're a lot more likely to get stuck waiting a bit for a train at EWR. And the EWR train stop isn't at one of the terminals, it's at a separate Airtrain stop, so not really different than JFK to Jamaica Station in that regard. @CastlevaniaNut18 when searching for flights (Google Flights, airline websites, etc) you can generally put in NYC instead of a specific airport. On Google Flights I also know you can manually select multiple airports. So either put in NYC and ignore LGA, or manually select EWR+JFK, and on Google Flights make sure you have it displaying split tickets (two different airlines). Sometimes it can make the most sense to fly into one and fly out of the other.
CastlevaniaNut18
Thanks for the tips on the airport, though I have no idea what you're talking about with some of this stuff. But I'll look it up. It's good to know, because I don't want to get stuck in horrible traffic for hours. 9 hours ago, Slug said: I'll second what Pikachu said and say don't miss the Nintendo World Store. The Ripley's Believe it or Not museum in Time's Square is really cool. Also I wouldn't send everyone there, but you specifically need to go check out VGNY (VideoGamesNewYork) while you're there. It's a retro-gamer nerdgasm; best retro vg shop you'll ever see. I was looking up some game stores and that was the first result. We'll definitely check it out. Puggles
I just spent 4 days in NYC for NYE and it was way less intimidating than I thought it would be. I didn’t do much since I was there for Phish at MSG but it was super easy to get around on the subway.
