What a lame candidate. No wonder he lost the dnc chairmanship race.

Signifyin(g)Monkey
Zuck better keep in mind he might not get much help from the right wing. Whenever I ask right-wingers why it’s okay for a private company to not bake a wedding cake for a gay couple but not okay for it to regulate speech on its proprietary, privately owned platform, and get a lot of contradictory gobbledegook in return, I’m always reminded that a vast swathe of conservatives don’t actually give a shit about classical liberal principles and ‘constitutional libertarianism’ except as generic, undefined cultural totems to project themselves onto. Neither The Beatles nor The Beach Boys are "boy bands." This. Just because a band consists of all males does not mean it’s a “boy band”, there is a specific format involved. Otherwise Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Black Sabbath, etc are also all boy bands. The ones that set the template for boy bands are bands like The Osmonds and The Jackson 5 (and neither of those were even all boys ). Kal-El814
The Beatles absolutely were marketed and started out as their era’s equivalent of a boy band even if the term wouldn’t be coined until later, and they obviously didn’t end their careers as one. Is this a controversial take?

Is this a controversial take? It is because calling something a "boy band" strains credulity if you don't tick off certain boxes. We use language to communicate things after all and the term was invented to distinguish between groups like The Monkees vs. The Animals. Why even have a term if it can mean all the things that it was specifically evolved to distinguish between? As was said it takes more than a band with boys, even ones with sex appeal, to be a "boy band." The big difference is that a boy band consists of people who are typically strictly performers; the tendency is toward manager created groups and producer created songs. Both The Beatles and The Beach Boys were organically created and they wrote their own music. They're just "bands."

Dodger
We're getting pretty close to the point where any all male band could be called a boy band because rich and famous rock stars will tend to be rated pretty highly by the ladies. Led Zeppelin is now a boy band!

Today on "This is totally the same" Is 98 degrees not a boy band? Hanson? Boyz II Men? All groups that started independently and wrote their own music and would be described first and foremost as "boy bands" in their heydays. Everything about the Beatles' initial run was "managed" by Brian Epstein the way a Backstreet Boys would be: look/image, public appearances/interviews, merchandising, etc. And George Martin (producer) heavily steered the poppy nature of their first albums. Like, I get there can be disagreement on this but the snide incredulity you're presenting here isn't warranted.
