Bloodporne
I think I'm almost done and I have to say the level design really started taking a dump in favor of non-stop locked-down arenas one after the other later on. The hell levels were the worst about this so far. I wouldn't mind that as much if they switched things up more but they essentially all play out the same in terms of first dumping low level enemies, then mid, then a few Barons. Definitely prefer the first handful of facility stations to the rest of the game so far. I think the second stage so far has been my favorite in terms of level design with actual key card hunting and so on.

The level design and environmental variety were definitely the weakest aspects of the game. It didn't bother me too much personally, since the game is really all about the combat and there is only so much you can gussy it up before you just slow the game down. That said, I'm glad Doom Eternal is expanding the color pallet beyond rust and red.
Dre801
I'm an older gamer who has been playing this recently. I've mostly played adventure games and Western RPGs for years. I'm so not used to games like this these days. I'm enjoying it, but damn you never stop moving. It definitely reminds me of old school Doom. It all goes hand in hand I think and I definitely felt really fatigued and bored by the whole idea of one arena after another without. They were doing really well in the first set of stages but I felt a clear drop-off at some point. I'm still having fun though overall so I can't bitch too much. I think it was a good start to realize the aesthetics need a kick in the ass but for me, they took it totally the wrong way with Doom Eternal from what I've seen so far. Even the HUD somehow looks worse, it's amazing.
AbsolutSurgen
I really enjoyed the combat in the later levels of Doom -- I found them to be a challenge, and really fit into the "progression" of Doom. As you progress through the game, things are continually getting faster, you are having to use ALL of the weapons and skills you've earned/developed over the past 15 hours to overcome some of these arenas. I never felt the sense of fatigue that you guys are describing.

Bloodporne
Beat it yesterday, pretty wet fart of an ending. Overall I did really enjoy the game in the end and I stick by the fact I ate crow here. Going to try my hand at Arcade Mode for a bit since I'm not really feeling done yet. Not sure what to spend the million weapon upgrade points I have on though...basically everything's maxed out since the last three levels. gamer.tv
I found it was the kind of game that was best played in shorter bursts, though it was a great game. Genuinely looking forward to Doom: Eternal, which is rare as bar Death Stranding, I've not actively looked forward to a game in years. Dre801
Still playing it. Just warped out of hell and back to Mars.
Bloodporne
I don't know if this was a common mention in reviews or so but some aspects really reminded me of Metroid Prime. The double-jump with that sound effect and the boss fights specifically. One aspect I ended up really getting into were the alt-fires on each gun being actually useful. I tend to forget about stuff like this somehow in some games but the attachments, whatever they call them, were usually really useful and fun. Sniping with the Gauss Canon feels great every time fully upgraded.
Dre801
I keep forgetting about the chains saw. It wasn't until I was pretty far into the game that I realized what the gas cans were for.

If games don't push me into using all my tools with difficulty or some other type of necessity, I tend to forget about mechanics.

I pop them with guns until they're flashing orange, then I finish em off. Saves ammo.
ort
My favorite part of DOOM is when you shoot the demons.
