How many times have we seen an officer fired by one municipality then rehired by another? These assholes belong in jail. Just to raise further eyebrows, the two fired officers are African-American while three other officers have been assigned to desk duty "pending investigation".

I think they’re largely separating into different groups, with fairly different motives. A lot of people are blaming this on the cops, but looking at what the Minneapolis Mayor said, a lot of the violence is the result of outside white supremacist/antifa/anarchist agitators who are just appropriating the protesters’ cause as an excuse to ‘break shit’ and cause general disorder. I’m betting Their goals and those of the protesters are quite different.
SuperSpreader
It's only a matter of time before protesters get a hold of police equipment and turn it back on them. These cops need to focus on de-escalation.

Best case they're just repeating something told to them by the police, worst case they're complicit. And this completely whitewashes the role of the police in instigating, and that the vast majority of violence these past few nights is done BY police, by design. It's almost like you're being a contrarian for its own sake and not paying attention

Twin Cities mayors, Minnesota governor walk back comments about out-of-state protesters Quote St. Paul, Minn., Mayor Melvin Carter (D) on Saturday evening walked back his comments from earlier in the day claiming that "every single person" who was arrested Friday night from protests over the killing of George Floyd was from out of state. Carter said in a joint press conference with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) that the information he had received regarding the arrests made in St. Paul on Friday night was inaccurate. Be very suspicious of what the authorities are saying, but give more credence to what on-the-ground activists are.

b_m_b_m_b_m
For the record, these are the demands of the protesters in Richmond, where the push has been going on for two years This is what the cops are fighting. This is their response: And what is the property damage done here? Small trash fires, some graffiti (especially on Confederate monuments) some broken windows, looting of a few chain stores (mostly), and setting fire to the United Daughters of the Confederacy building. Commissar SFLUFAN
Coincidentally, the Supreme Court is considering whether to review any of the several petitions involving "qualified immunity" that are currently before them. Their decision to take up any of those cases could come tomorrow.

It's an excuse to start pushing folks around. Protests in Boston were mostly peaceful with no rioting or looting until the police started trying to kick people out of downtown due to a curfew. Yeah, I think it's pretty obvious by now that the police in many cities want this to continue to escalate as cover for giving them the green light to further bust some heads without recourse. In Chicago the other day, the 9 PM curfew was announced at 8:30 PM, with the bridges up downtown and no mass transit running. Thousands were downtown.
