Because Disney's industry is not technically a monopoly. Yet. At this time, the industry is an oligopoly.

Remarkableriots
@SFLUFAN I believe Comcast bought Foxs shares of Sky PLC before Disney bought Fox. That was the biggest reason Comcast even wanted to buy Fox. Quote Initially formed in 1990 by the equal merger of Sky Television and British Satellite Broadcasting, BSkyB became the UK's largest digital pay television company.[7] In 2014, after completing the acquisition of Sky Italia and Sky Deutschland, the merged company changed its name to Sky plc.[8] Prior to November 2018, Rupert Murdoch's 21st Century Fox owned a 39.14% controlling stake in the company;[9] on 9 December 2016, following a previous attempt under News Corporation that was affected by the News International phone hacking scandal, 21st Century Fox announced that it had agreed to buy the remainder of Sky, pending government approval. However, after a bidding war that included The Walt Disney Company (which was, in turn, acquiring most of 21st Century Fox assets), U.S. media and telecoms conglomerate Comcast acquired the entirety of Sky in 2018 for £17.28 per-share. Before the acquisition by Comcast, Sky was listed on the London Stock Exchange and was a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index and had a market capitalisation of approximately £18.75 billion (€26.76 billion) as of 2018.[10] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky_(company) https://smartmoneypress.com/investing/stocks/comcast-places-winning-bid-sky-plc/ https://finfoc.com/2019/02/comcast-sky-plc-deal https://www.reuters.com/article/us-sky-plc-m-a-comcast-idUSKCN1MJ1XO

They own Fox Sports AND ESPN?! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_Sports_(United_States) Quote On December 14, 2017, The Walt Disney Company announced plans to acquire 21st Century Fox (Fox Sports' parent) for $52.4 billion, which included key assets such as 20th Century Fox, FX Networks, National Geographic Partners, its regional sports networks, and its international networks. However, under the terms of the proposed acquisition, the Fox broadcast network, Fox News Channel, and the non-regional Fox Sports assets (FS1and FS2) cable channels, and the broadcast network division were spun off into an independent company owned by 21st Century Fox's current shareholders.[1][ Nope, i thought i read they didn't get Fox sports just like they didn't get Fox news and the Fox network. Maybe regional is different?
Remarkableriots
Quote Fox Sports Networks (FSN), formerly known as Fox Sports Net, is the collective name for a group of regional sports channels in the United States. Formed in 1996 by News Corporation, the group was acquired by The Walt Disney Company in March 2019 following its acquisition of 21st Century Fox. A condition of that acquisition imposed by the U.S. Department of Justice required Disney to sell FSN by June 18, 2019, 90 days after the completion of its acquisition.[1] Disney subsequently agreed to sell the networks (excluding the YES Network, being reacquired by Yankee Global Enterprises) to Sinclair Broadcast Group.[2][3] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_Sports_Networks I don't believe they're keeping any of the Fox sports. Remarkableriots
Quote Endemol Shine later made a statement that they had been in negotiations with several parties and were confident they would have an owner by end of November 2018.[22] However, on November 6, 2018 it was reported that both Fox and Apollo have decided to suspend the selling process as a deal could not be reached by prospective buyers. In the meantime, Fox's 50% stake in the company will be given to Disney.[23]The report was published hours before European Commission's clearance of Disney's impending purchase of Fox on certain conditions. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endemol_Shine_Group Nobody wanted it so Disney got stuck with it!
