Brian
Taken from the PC Gamer review Quote “A few quests: I collect brown rock specimens (poop) for a guy obsessed with brown rock specimens (poop), Claptrap needs help building a 'friend' who is clearly a feminine robot for his creepy private purposes, I plant dynamite in a massive poop dam to save a farm, I help a guy open a burger joint while he yells about burgers a lot, I help a guy escape from a porta-potty for a poop-spewing rocket launcher—it's borderline unbearable.” Randy, never change. Commissar SFLUFAN
Game Information Game Title: Borderlands 3 Platforms: PlayStation 4 (Sep 12, 2019) Xbox One (Sep 12, 2019) PC (Sep 12, 2019) Developer: Gearbox Software Review Aggregator: OpenCritic - 81 average - 78% recommended Critic Reviews Cheat Code Central - 4.8 / 5 Quote It looks, works, and plays well, and fans of the series will be more than happy to join the Crimson Raiders. Hobby Consolas - Spanish - 94 / 100 Quote Gearbox has taken the Borderlands formula and improved it to achieve the definitive "looter shooter". Bigger, better, longer and funnier; Borderlands 3 is legendary loot. SomosXbox - Spanish - 9.3 / 10 Quote With Borderlands 3, Gearbox Software has once again demonstrated why its series is the king of looter shooters PixelVulture - 92 / 100 Quote The game hasn’t taken any wild new directions but rather focused on improving the existing formula. The entire game feels like a warm duvet on a cold day. The Games Machine - Italian - 9.1 / 10 Quote It makes no sense to focus on small flaws: Borderlands 3 is a great game, with charisma and great replayability, with four characters to look into, lots of sub-quests to deal with and a future DLC that could shine to the full. Attack of the Fanboy - 4.5 / 5 stars Quote Borderlands 3 delivers the game fans have been waiting for. Destructoid - 9 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 takes most of the good bits of Borderlands 2 and either rolls with them or improves upon them. It didn't need to reinvent the wheel either, as Gearbox pretty much had the formula figured out the second time around. Forbes - 9 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 was worth the wait and will be a fixture in this genre for years to come. And I think few fans of the last two will be disappointed when they get their hands on it at last. Gameplanet - 9 / 10 Quote When most people think of the looter shooter sub-genre, they think of the Borderlands series. Borderlands essentially created the mould for what a looter shooter should be. Lots of shooting and lots of looting. I don't think any other looter shooter loots or shoots as well as Borderlands 3 does. Borderland 3 is the best game in the series, not by breaking the mould, but by expanding and deepening it. Gamerheadquarters - 9 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 is the exact follow-up that fans have been waiting for, delivering more of what they’ve come to expect with some surprises along the journey. Gamersky - Chinese - 9 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 is the best game Gearbox has ever made. The weapons are interesting and goofy, the battles are intense and tricky, and the multiple open-worlds are beautiful and full of challenging missions. For Chinese gamers, it might be the most immersive 3A game in recent years because of the wonderful Chinese voice acting. Geek Culture - 9 / 10 Quote All the best stuff, with a tiny mix of bad, Borderlands 3 is here to blow your mind. IGN - 9 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 sticks to its guns and outdoes itself with an amazing arsenal of weapons, humor, and missions. IGN Spain - Spanish - 9 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 does not include any major revolution, something we celebrate taking into account the shameless essence of the Gearbox franchise. So many years of waiting have been worth it to return to the office of Vault Hunters. LevelUp - Spanish - 9 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 is one of the best games of the year and without a doubt the best game in the franchise to date Yes, it' s more of the same, but consider it quantitatively: more action, more chaos, more weapons, more possibilities, more roads, bigger stages, more impressive battles, etc. Do you have a problem with that? PlayStation LifeStyle - 9 / 10 Quote Is Borderlands 3 a perfect game? No, at least not at launch. But it damn sure is so much fun that I wish I were playing right now and not writing this review. I've got Vaults to loot and trinkets to buy. Don't forget to tip Moxxi! Shacknews - 9 / 10 Quote The Borderlands formula might be a bit dated with its raunchy jokes and cheesy dialogue, but that doesn’t change that it is a formula that keeps reeling players back in again and again. Despite the fact that I’ve already logged over 40 hours in the game, I still can't help but feel the want to dive back in with a new character just to experience it all again. TechRaptor - 9 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 improves upon the Borderlands formula in every way possible, showing what a looter shooter is capable of when the basic requirements like a coherent story and cool loot are not just fulfilled, but exceeded Windows Central - 4.5 / 5 stars Quote Borderlands 3 is the best the series has ever been and perfectly closes the decade-long adventure for fans. Nexus - 8.7 / 10 Quote If you’re a fan of Borderlands, there’s a lot of love in doses here. It’s fulfilling from both a gameplay and fan-service perspective, with tons to see and do for hours on end. COGconnected - 86 / 100 Quote Seriously. Borderlands 3 is sure to be a contender for GOTY and it can only get better with more content and bombastic badasses. Spaziogames - Italian - 8.6 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 is everything we hoped for. Gearbox has refined the traditional formula of the franchise, improving its powerful mix of FPS and RPG elements with new intriguing features. The heart of the Campaign is the inimitable humor embodied by the characters, except for the bad guys: Calypso twins struggle to find their place among the stars. Atomix - Spanish - 85 / 100 Quote A great return to the franchise that invented most of the modern loot shooter mechanics. CGMagazine - 8.5 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 isn't a franchise altering game, but it does manage to combine great gunplay, an expansive world, and stellar co-op into a great overall package. DualShockers - 8.5 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 comes with great growth in gameplay, but a safe story that had the opportunity for so much more. PlayStation Universe - 8.5 / 10 Quote Though the humor frequently misses the mark, the much improved gunplay of Borderlands 3 and stupendously generous endgame easily wins out in the end, creating arguably the best entry in the series to date. SECTOR.sk - Slovak - 8.5 / 10 Quote Heroes of The Pandora are still cool. But do not await too many news. Just enjoy next killing spree! GamePro - German - 84 / 100 Quote Borderlands 3 offers more weapons, more action and more nonsense. That's good for fans, but uninteresting for everyone else. IGN Italy - Italian - 8.4 / 10 Quote A solid new episode for Borderlands, with a lot of things to do, but ten years after the original some mechanics are a bit obsolete. Merlin'in Kazanı - Turkish - 81 / 100 Quote Borderlands 3 promises a lot of fun gameplay and a good scenario. But the technical problems of the game, destroy the fun. Critical Hit - 8 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 may be a braindead story of already dead on arrival memes and a cast that is largely forgettable (Save for Tannis, I still love you for being my socially inept spirit animal), but it's easily the most satisfying power fantasy of the year thanks to its amazingly tuned gunplay and a sophisticated flow of action that picks up the juvenile slack. Daily Mirror - 4 / 5 stars Quote Overall the game is a real blast from the past, keeping true to its style and doing the core mechanics outstandingly well whilst improving some quality of life aspects. GRYOnline.pl - Polish - 8 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 is a terrific looter-shooter, one of the best out there, among the best in history. The game focuses on the most important thing – the gameplay. Shooting provides tons of fun and a gigantic arsenal of weapons keeps boredom at bay. It would be pretty much perfect, if not for the technical pitfalls – the game needs fixing. Game Informer - 8 / 10 Quote An old formula executed well, Borderlands 3 rarely takes chances or strays from expectation GameMAG - Russian - 8 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 is a great co-op shooter/RPG with huge amount of content and good variety of loot, locations and quests. Shooting, exploring the locations and collect new guns is fun and interesting. Especially with friends online. Problems with framerate can be annoying, but I want to play Borderlands 3 even after tens of hours, and this is important. GameSkinny - 8 / 10 stars Quote Borderlands 3 is the best Borderlands has ever been. It's beautiful, funny, and frantic in the best ways. There are issues, but those shouldn't deter you too much from having an absolute blast. GameSpot - 8 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 fumbles with its bosses, but the game ultimately continues its predecessors' tradition of fun, mayhem-filled looting and shooting. Gameblog - French - 8 / 10 Quote Nothing says "Welcome home" better than Borderlands 3. It's no different than the other games, it's simply more ambitious: the shooter and lifespan of the game are better, you will explore more planets than ever. But with all of this ambition, it lacks technical polish, where it should have learn from its past mistakes. GamesFinest - German - 8 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 is able to skillfully enhance the unique selling points of its predecessors without losing its characteristic focus on cooperative gameplay and its motivations. Numerous minimal modifications within the varied maps, the pronounced individualization options within the skill trees as well as the original boss fights make it possible for Gearbox's successful series to secure the place on the genre throne as a matter of course. Despite the rather uniform main missions, the generic antagonist and its technical deficits, the co-op shooter overcomes the motivational hurdle, not least because of its improved loot offering and the mature endgame concept. With Borderland's 3 humorous charms including his loving cell sading graphic style, we are no less faced with a timeless co-op adventure that might turn our leisure activities upside down for the time being. GamesRadar+ - 4 / 5 stars Quote Borderlands 3 is a fan-servicing treat of a Borderlands game, albeit one somewhat soured by technical issues and lacklustre villains. GamingBolt - 8 / 10 Quote Awesome guns. Irreverent humor. Great characters. Lots and lots of bad guys to shoot. Borderlands 3 is more of the same, but when it's this much fun, who cares? Guardian - 4 / 5 stars Quote While there are some new aspects, such as a game-world that is more substantial than its predecessors, the third instalment is reassuringly familiar fun Heavy - 8 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 is a complicated game to recommend. It’s a technical mess that is flooded with bugs and sports some pretty mediocre writing at times. On the other hand, it boasts terrific gameplay, characters, and endgame content. Just Push Start - 4 / 5 Quote For better or worse, Borderlands 3 rides the line between amazing fun and horribly awful. Leadergamer - Turkish - 4 / 5 stars Quote For those, who want to get drowned in action, bullet and loot. Push Square - 8 / 10 Quote In refusing to dramatically innovate, Borderlands 3 continues to occupy a unique position in the RPG genre. Its blend of looting, shooting, and comedy makes for varied gameplay sequences, deep and meaningful player progression, and a couple of laughs along the way. It's not going to convert anyone who wasn't a fan of previous iterations, but in doing so, Borderlands 3 sticks to what it does best. Twinfinite - 4 / 5 Quote Borderlands 3 is the ultimate example of playing it safe and giving their core fans exactly what they want to see. I can certainly understand the desire to not fix what isn’t broken. It’s a valid strategy. USgamer - 4 / 5 stars Quote Despite the formula growing a bit stale, Gearbox has expanded upon it in the right way, resulting in a great Borderlands experience. VG247 - 4 / 5 stars Quote Despite the fact Borderlands 3 seemingly wants me to hate it, I really, really like it. Like, a lot. Worth Playing - 8 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 is a solid game for fans. It relishes in the multiplayer moment-to-moment combat, and the multitude of guns and the post-campaign game give players enough reasons to keep playing long after the credits have rolled. It won't convert those who disliked the series into fans, but it also does everything it can to keep itself true to what players liked about the originals. For those who are still deciding whether to jump in, Borderlands 3 is a good place to do so. Xbox Achievements - 80 / 100 Quote Is Borderlands 3 the best one yet? Not quite, but it's incredibly close. While it may not eclipse Borderlands 2, Gearbox has crammed Borderlands 3 with more chaotic gunplay, more ridiculous guns with which to wreak havoc, and more silly humour. More of everything, then? Yep. Borderlands 3 is one big bundle of fun. GamesBeat - 77 / 100 Quote If you enjoy lootin’-and-shootin’, check out Borderlands 3. But go in knowing that you’re going to cringe at some of the jokes and feel fatigue every now and then Cerealkillerz - German - 7.5 / 10 Quote All good things come in threes but not in the case of Borderlands 3. Gearbox manages to cut out a lot of beloved features from previous titles and leaves us with uninspiring open world areas that are only kept alive from the craziness of beloved characters. Cultured Vultures - 7.5 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 brings all the fun and enthusiasm that the series is famed for while also introducing tighter gunplay and new locations to explore. Disappointingly, it fails to address some issues that have plagued earlier games and there's very little in the way of innovative, refreshing gameplay. MSPoweruser - 7.5 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 does technically evolve the franchise, and it is a fun time for those who know what they’re getting into. While most of the quests don’t have the motivation that you’d expect, the core gameplay is incredibly engaging. Every Vault Hunter feels fantastic to control and the world-hopping adventure leads to some gorgeous locales, but it’s not a decidedly better game than what’s come before. It’s one step forward and a juvenile step back to impress its friends. Oh, and there’s a fart at the end just for good measure. NoobFeed - 75 / 100 Quote Borderlands 3's stellar gunplay and awesome arsenal heavily contrast its disappointing humor and characters. Press Start - 7.5 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 is what you would expect from a Borderlands game, for better or for worse. It does little to innovate on the now ubiquitous looter genre it helped to define ten years ago and plays it safe. While it's almost the same Borderlands it was those ten years ago, it's still hard to deny that it's a great romp with mates. Wccftech - 7.5 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 is another bountiful, bullet-filled buffet for fans. Hunting for that perfect gun is still addictive and the minute-to-minute action is better than ever, but flat writing, sometimes-frustrating level design, and a lack of polish limits the game's potential. If you're starving for more Borderlands, by all means, dig in, but you might find you've had your fill sooner than you expected. 3DNews - Russian - 7 / 10 Quote The game is stuck in the past with its unfunny jokes, archaic game design decisions and unwillingness to follow at least some modern trends. If words Game Rant - 3.5 / 5 stars Quote Borderlands 3 may be a buggy game with performance issues and a disappointing story, but its fun factor is impossible to deny. GameCrate - 7 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 is more Borderlands and not much else. It doesn't innovate. It doesn't push the looter shooter genre forward. It doesn't say anything profound with its plot. It plays it 100% safe by nearly copying its predecessors. That might be enough for some people, but it's not enough to stand out against other contemporary looter shooters. Gamers Heroes - 7 / 10 Quote Borderlands 3 does very little to reinvent itself. It plays it safe, sticking to the tried and tested formula that made the original games such a success. A must-play for fans of the genre and past Borderlands games, but much of the same for anyone else. Hardcore Gamer - 3.5 / 5 Quote The phrase, "doesn't do anything particularly new," is apt to describe Borderlands 3. Metro GameCentral - 7 / 10 Quote A surprisingly unadventurous sequel, given the long years fans have been waiting for it, but the entertaining weaponry just about makes up for the overfamiliarity and obnoxious sense of humour. The Outerhaven Productions - 3.5 / 5 stars Quote Borderlands 3 delivers on the looting and shooting, but everything else unfortunately falls flat. The four playable classes are the best the series has ever seen, and the loot progression has been fine-tuned to an impeccable degree. Obnoxious characters, painfully unfunny jokes, and numerous technical shortcomings make Borderlands 3 a hard game to recommend to anyone but existing fans of the franchise. If you already love Borderlands, you'll like Borderlands 3. If you don't, then this one won't do anything for you. VideoGamer - 7 / 10 Quote Best enjoyed at a breezy remove, Borderlands 3 provides a punchy shooting experience, a massive open world, and some eye-rolling, adolescent humour. We Got This Covered - 3.5 / 5 stars Quote Borderlands 3, besides being technically unsound, plays it a little too safe to stand out. While the gunplay is excellent and the weapons wild, cringeworthy writing weighs it down. PC Gamer - 63 / 100 Quote An endless font of bad jokes and cool guns in the series' most vapid story yet, Borderlands 3 skates by on watching numbers fly and goons explode. TheSixthAxis - 6 / 10 Quote I've got very mixed feelings about Borderlands 3. Overall I like it and it's fun to play, but it could have been so much more and the writing feels like time traveling back to your high school days and being surprised and a little disappointed at how immature everyone is. Few things in life are as embarrassing as the person you were five years ago. If you're not embarrassed, then I'm sorry to say that you may well be the Borderlands 3 of your friend group; stuck in the past unable to grow or change in any meaningful way, relying on fart jokes as a stand-in for your personality. Slant Magazine - 2.5 / 5 stars Quote The game is boorish, infantile, and violent, and, in refusing to take any sort of consistent stand, is wildly off the mark. Checkpoint Gaming - Disliked Quote I can forgive the game for a lot of its shortcomings, although there’s something about Borderlands 3 that I absolutely cannot forgive – its technical problems. Eurogamer - No Recommendation / Blank Quote The humour is even more annoying, the guns even more amazing and Gearbox's shooter is more divisive than it's ever been. Polygon - Unscored Quote Borderlands 3, if it works well at launch, is a competent game that feels like a passable continuation of the franchise instead of an evolution. It’s the same general idea with new vault hunters, but with little of the joy and danger that I fell in love with in earlier entries. Rock, Paper, Shotgun - Unscored Quote While the game itself isn’t the most stellar company, there’s no denying why it, like its predecessors, will be incredibly successful – because it provides a superb environment for hanging out with your pals. Dodger
Still having trouble deciding who I want to go with. For me, the star of the games has always been the guns and not the action skills so I prefer someone is going to get good use out of the guns. I played Zane and Fl4k for about an hour each last night, and I think going action skill crazy with Zane isn't for me, though I can see how you can end up with some broken builds with him. He might be this games Sal. So I think I'll stick mainly with Fl4k and try him out as a crit machine. In most games where you can get more and better criticals, that tends to make for some good builds. Only thing, if alt firing mode is now on the Dpad, does that mess up weapon swapping once you have more than 2 guns slots? Or can you just map that to a face button. Because I can see that getting real annoying if you can't change that once you have 4 slots available.
