CitizenVectron
https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2019/03/inside-hollywoods-disney-fox-freakout Pretty depressing read. Thousands of jobs will be lost, and Fox's output will likely drop from 12-20 films per year down to 3-4. Disney is garbage.

Greatoneshere
This is one of the many reasons some of us have advocated against this merger, X-Men returning to the MCU be damned.
Guest
I was on the phone for probably the last time with one of my Fox reps and she was really struggling knowing the the axe is about to drop any minute.
TwinIon
Lowering output that much doesn't seem like the best way to maximize that investment.

It does in the context of Disney’s business model, which is basically blockbusters only. It does speak to the problem of making small movies for theatrical release though as Disney will apparently utilize the rest of Fox’s labels to produce direct to Hulu/Disney+ content. Film lover me is very displeased with this.
TheGreatGamble
I mean, I get why it’s bad, but I can’t be unhappy about it.
Spawn_of_Apathy
Fox didn’t make 15-20 movies a year worth seeing. Even the 3-4 is pushing it.

They could be worth seeing to other people. All of these mergers are leading us toward the inevitable conclusion of having only 12 movies released by year by Exxon-Disney, one per month that is legally required to screen in all theatre rooms. Each will have a budget of $450 million and each successive one will break launch records.

Commissar SFLUFAN
As someone who is CATEGORICALLY opposed to ALL mergers of media companies, I just have to say: I told you so.
