He looked fine but with all the whining, Disney has time to clean up things that people are unsatisfied with. I don't get how people are not excited about Will Smith? He can actually go back to his comedic roots and natural personality to depict his own Genie. I loved Robin but I personally am not so stuck on William's voice on an animated character to not give a talented actor a try. I'm glad he won't repeat what we got with a voice from Robin Williams, who I loved as well. Start the hate debate. I don't care. not going to hate on what you said. I like Will, but lets be honest as of now he looks horrible, like some little kid painted his face when he fell asleep on the couch. I loved Aladdin and It's the Jafar issue that really bothers me, not so much the crappy looking genie. I'm sure they will enhance Will's look before release. It just feels like Will Smith being Will Smith, which is kinda like George Clooney being George Clooney, you see the person more than that character. I don't even care if Robin Williams isn't doing the voice, just be a genie, they could pick some no name which would probably be better in my mind. Will Smith isn't a great actor, he's just a good looking guy with a good personality. However, with people not enjoying the look perhaps this is a time Disney discovers the genie looks better as a cartoon than a living creature. Dre801
Should have just CGI'd the genie entirely.

I think originally that's what everyone presumed they'd be doing, except with Will Smith's voice.

His last comedic role was MIB 3 in 2012, and before that it was Hitch in 2005. Sure, there was a time when he was a bonafide movie star, but years of questionable or outright bad movies have dimmed his public image. I'm still hopeful that he'll be a fine genie, but I don't think it's hard to see why this isn't something people are excited about.

While I mostly agree, people seemed to go nuts for him and the film Bright just recently. Other than that, he got a lot of critical attention for his good performance in the film Concussion, and I thoroughly did enjoy MIB 3. Otherwise though, he's made a lot of bad films/career decisions since The Pursuit of Happyness, I Am Legend and Hancock (hey, I like Hancock!).
