TwinIon
One of the more interesting stories to come out of CES so far is that Apple seems to be opening up their ecosystem to TV makers. Both Vizio and LG will natively support AirPlay 2 on their new sets, and in a very surprising move Samsung will also include an iTunes app. I feel like this is a concession owed to the failure of the Apple TV. Apple has been unable to compete with the far cheaper Fire TV and Chromecast, and even more than that, they've realized that most people will just use whatever their TV comes with. That just makes buying media on iTunes a poor value proposition when you can buy it on Amazon/Vudu/Google and watch it through your native TV apps and on your iPhone. Meanwhile, they haven't decided to open up Siri at all. Samsung's new TVs will allow both Google Assistant and Alexa commands.
Spork3245
Good. I *like* my AppleTV but I’d much rather have it’s features as a built-in app on my TV. Honestly, if it wasn’t given to me randomly as a gift from my fiancé’s parents, I would have never purchased one on my own. It’s overpriced. RedSoxFan9
Apple’s streaming service would not work if it’s limited to apple products. Apple Music is now on echos, which was probably a trade with amazon to get their streaming service on Fire TV.
