It hasn't helped that during the shutdown, news of the FBI investigating him specifically came out and stocks were running wild. It's also interesting to see how much more gradual increases and decreases are now compared to decades ago when you could see some major drops and spikes in a short period of time. The funny thing is Trump is so focused on the stock market that he doesn't realize what will likely really do him in is shit like the shut down which his base is going to far more damage from than the markets. mclumber1
It's possible for airports to not have TSA perform security operations. Several airports instead have private firms do the work the TSA normally does, including checkpoint screening. I believe they simply have to follow TSA regulations/guidelines. I wonder if something like the current shutdown will spurn more airports to switch to private firms over the TSA?

Normally replacing government employees with contractors results in shittier pay for shittier performance...but can either get worse for TSA employees? Subzwari1987
It is amazing that ONE person has the power to decide whether a chamber in Congress is allowed to perform their job or not. Is there any way for the Senate to override the Senate majority leader and vote on this bill? Otherwise they need to abolish that position or change how bills are brought onto the Senate floor for a vote.

Members should have the ability to bring votes to the floor through a variety of mechanisms.

Jason
Day 27 of shutdown and McConnell is bringing up an abortion bill that does nothing and won’t pass - This bill has zero chance of passing Congress. Chris-
The petulance of trying to get back at her over postponing the SOTU, the needless capitalization, framing commercial air as some sort of indignity to suffer...That's Trump through and through. He probably felt so fucking clever dictating that to one of his press shop lackeys.

The best part about him dictating this to some secretary or aide is that he either made them capitalize random words, or they did it for him after the fact. Chairslinger
When you boil it down, Pelosi pulled a political move, and Trump responded with one. The reason Trump loses again, is because Pelosi can plausibly say she cancelled the speech for security concerns, but Trump created security concerns by cancelling Pelosi's trip. I wouldn't be surprised if Pelosi fully expected him to do what he did today and had the talking points ready. She's like a matador leading Trump around with a shiny red sheet.
