@Best game is basically Baldur's Gate 3 but not turned based BTW. It's much shorter but it might be harder. The first boss was really hard for me back in the day.

Well since Phaseknox said his favorite was Inquisition I'm reading up on reviews. It seems more my style compared to Orgins. I'm not sure.

Oh, I don't think you'll like DA:O. At least you won't like it enough to beat it. The Marvel Slop that is DA:I is far more beatable and approachable to the masses.

Yeah I honestly don't think you'll like DA:O... in fact I doubt you'll like ANY of them enough to finish them. Inquisition is the most action-y of them all but its action gameplay is exceptionally average for an action RPG. Apparently Veilguard has completed the series transition to full on action RPG, but the previous three games aren't really known for their gameplay. (well except the first one, but it is a tactical RPG).

I agree with you. I've been doing research on both Orgins and Inquisition and they're not worth my time.

Thanks for the info.

Origins by a country mile. But don't you still have BG3, DOS2, and ME that you're playing? :p

I'm a mess with sticking to games lately. I was hooked on BG3 and then slowly transitioned to laying in my bed playing my deck. I'm actually playing Uncharted 4 right now on my deck lol.

We're making great progress towards our fall launch date, and can confirm early that #DragonAge: The Veilguard is going all-in on Steam features!
⚔️We're verified on Steam Deck.
⚔️We'll be Steam native - meaning the EA App will not be required to play the game.

while i would love to see that thing go, i do wonder what will happen to all of my Need For Speed games that I just paid $2 each for.

1)  The apps probably not ever going away

2)  If it did, they would probably move everything over to Steam

I played Orgins on my XSX and Holy shit it looked absolutely dreadful visually.

I can't get past that even if the core game is amazing.

Then I tried Inquisition and I was quite impressed with it visually for it's age but the gameplay didn't hook me.

I'm definitely looking forward to Veilguard though.

Origins was a really solid game. I remember not being into it initially then gradually getting more and more into it. Inquisition had it's moments but was too much substance over quality content.

And Origins had one of the cringiest moments in gaming when some character was trying to sing at a campfire. The animation and presentation was utterly abysmal and gave me second hand cancer.

Maybe I'll try this one some day when I'm bored and feeling impulsive

The 10-year wait for a new Dragon Age is coming to a close as the fall season approaches, meaning that excitement for the game is at an all-time high. Why did The Veilguard take "so long" to come to fruition, though? Speaking in an interview with GamesRadar+, creative director John Epler and creative performance director Ashley Barlow explain why work on the beloved RPG series' soon-to-come entry was seemingly slower.

"We had other projects going on at BioWare as well," Epler says. "We wanted to make sure we got this one right." The developer continues, calling The Veilguard "the best version" that the new Dragon Age "could possibly be." Barlow then chimes in, describing how she's been working on the game for five years now alongside its cast of actors: "We started casting five years ago. The team, the talent has been on for five years."

And, according to Barlow, five years isn't that long considering the amount of work the cast had to do: "It takes a long time to record 700 characters, you know - 80,000 lines or 140,000 lines with all the Rooks. It just takes time to make good." Personally, I can't wait to hear some of these lines when The Veilguard officially releases - especially the ones voiced by Baldur's Gate 3's sex noise specialist, of course.

Yeah, it looks like shit for the most part. It was never a good-looking game.

I'm sure the PC version must have mods to help improve its look, no? Maybe he can switch to that?

I mean, you can make it look better, but it still doesn't look great. It never really did.

Here is some dude's modded run. Just skim a bit.

Plus he'd (best) be doing it on the steam deck so it might be more hoops to jump though than normally.

I agree, but I mean it's a game from 2009 on the Eclipse Engine. Based on that video the game seems ripe for a remaster though.

It's just not what I'd want to spend time on. I have plenty of great games to play.

It looks terrible. Have you seen IGNs ten minute gameplay vid? Just watch and let me know what you think

I'm staying away from any footage. I'm just waiting for user impressions and reviews.

The quality of that game is a separate conversation anyway. I was just talking about the title of the game.

Fair enough. But whatever this Dragon Age is supposed to be.. Not sure what they were going for. It doesn't look like it will be appealing after 5-10 hrs

It seems pretty clearly to be trying to be fantasy Mass Effect. Big party personalities, streamlined mission structure, action combat, branching dialog, light RPG character mechanics.

Which honestly is fine in a vacuum. It's just that DA was originally meant to be a return to core RPG form, and people want more of that. Especially after BG3 showed it can be done at scale. But they've drifted so far from that and can no longer be said to be following that original impetus. To be fair, they've been headed direction since DA2. But it's sad to see that they didn't reverse it and only went further.
