Remarkableriots
https://www.indiewire.com/2018/11/british-film-institute-not-fund-movies-facial-scars-villains-1202024278/ Quote The British Film Institute (BFI) has announced it will no longer fund movies featuring villain characters with facial scars. The organization’s decision supports the growing #IAmNotYourVillain campaign started by Changing Faces, the United Kingdom’s leading charity group for people with a visible difference such as a mark or scar. The group has made it their mission to de-stigmatize facial scars in film and television since scarring is often used on villains (see The Joker, Darth Vader, and more), and now the BFI is vowing to support that effort. “Film is a catalyst for change and that is why we are committing to not having negative representations depicted through scars or facial difference in the films we fund,” BFI Deputy CEO Ben Roberts said in a statement. “This campaign speaks directly to the criteria in the BFI diversity standards, which call for meaningful representations on-screen. We fully support Changing Faces’s #IAmNotYourVillain campaign, and urge the rest of the film industry to do the same.”
Spawn_of_Apathy
Darth Vader was also a quadruple amputee. I doubt they get much representation on either side, but ever since Ep 3 I have always associated them with evil.

Xbob42
I've never met a motherfucker with a facial scar that wasn't ready to throw down about their latte not having enough whip cream in it. Never trust scarries.
5timechamp
Oh thank goodness... this must be a political hit to stop the creation of Austin Powers 4... Sorry Doctor Evil... Now about that Cat in the Hat sequel..
RedSoxFan9
They should be protagonists like Scarface
CitizenVectron
I get what they are going for, but at the same time there may be occasions where a scar make sense.
TwinIon
Whatever. As long as you're not taking work away from Michael Kenneth Williams.
number305
So... no Al Capone movies in the future. No Freddy movies. No Friday the 13th. We need a list of facially disfigured bad guys.
Rev
I feel bad for people watching mysteries in 10 years. The villain will always just be the only guy with no traits in common with any perceived oppressed class.
Chairslinger
I want them to do this with facial hair so we can see the lower half of Captain Kirk's face blurred out on reruns of the mirror universe episode.
cusideabelincoln
How about more heroes with scars?
