TheLeon
I watched the first season of The Killing when it aired. It's been a while so I'm fuzzy on the details, but I remember really liking it until the season finale, which was really unsatisfying. I think it would probably go down more smoothly now that you have the rest of the show to watch immediately, but I can't vouch for the later seasons. And it weirdly doesn't seem to be on Netflix any more, at least in the US. I see it's on Hulu.

I did really like it by the end of S1. The Leftovers and The Outsider will be the ones I'll check out first. And yeah, I've seen all of Twin Peaks and really liked The Return. The ending felt like Lynch's crowning achievement of boss-level existential dread and that's saying a lot considering his filmography. The only things Lynch I don't like are Dune and Inland Empire, I even enjoy his student films and albums. Nice, all three shows are excellent choices (Hannibal, The Leftovers, and The Outsider). Season 2 of Hannibal is where it gets amazing, and season 3 is all the moody, tense, atmospheric tone and style you could want.
SimpleG
Battles Without Honor And Humanity 1970 Series of films direct by Kinji Fukasaku about the Yakuza in Japan after WW2 ends. Very fun and gritty set of films Graveyard Of Honor A retelling of Fukasaku film of the same name by Takashi Miike. A dishwasher saves a Yakuza warlord and is brought in the gang. Problem is the dishwasher gives no fucks about Yakuza traditions and is a complete psycho path. The film is very nihilistic and depraved for your average movie goer. Well I've mentioned it several times in this thread already but this is the specific to selling for @Bloodporne description. Now this might sound a little too outlandish for what you're looking for but give it a chance. The show, Voice, is a crime / murder mystery that feels kind of like the the movie Seven and the show 24. The idea is that a detective's wife was murdered and one of the leading causes that there is no type of first responder type set up in place to get police to respond in time. So there's a woman who worked at the call center who has hearing beyond a normal person, she was ostracized at the trial because she claimed the murderer who was at the trial wasn't actually the culprit. So long story short she goes on to form the "Golden Time Team" which is basically a first responder set up to prevent further similar murders, but also secretly to find the actual murderer that killed the detective's wife. So when I say it's like 24, I mean in semi-real time they have to respond to emergency calls (this aspect is kind of toned down later) - But mostly the show is a moody and broody murder mystery, especially if you get to the second season which is a lot darker. If you do decide to watch it on Netflix it is confusing because they renamed the show Voice 2, so look for Voice 2 (which is both seasons). If you look for Voice regular you'll find like an Indonesian remake of the show or something and you don't want to watch that version. I don't know how much it will grip you at first but give it at least 2 episodes before you decide if you don't want to watch it anymore. Thanks for reading. Maybe you'll watch it. TheLeon
Ted Lasso - it's a shame that this is buried on Apple TV+. It's incredibly charming, funny, and just nice. I just had a big dumb smile on my face the whole time.

TheLeon
Alice in Borderland - new Japanese Netflix original. Random people get pulled into some sort of alternate Tokyo and forced to compete in deadly games to stay alive. I watched the first episode on a whim and got hooked. It's nothing amazing, but I enjoyed the quick 8-episode season, and I look forward to seeing where it goes from there.

Bloodporne
Some bizarre fan video of cool ambient sounds, David Lynch smoking, rain and random quotes? I have no idea why this is compelling but I let this entire thing play while doing a work project earlier. Lynch/
silentbob
ALMOST FAMOUS 9/10 I remember seeing this shortly after it came out on vhs, might of been DVD. I was younger and someone who would never do drugs. Fast forward 20 years later where I lie in my bed, pretty goddamn stoned, while starting quarantine. Notice nothing was on tv and suddenly I saw this and thought what the hell. Holy shit were there a ton of well known actors/actresses in this movie. Loved the charm, acting and man the music is amazing. Then hearing pot being offered left, right and centre by everyone on screen. Damn right you should take their offer because I fell in love with this film while high.

69los
Holy hell this was one of the most depressing movies I've ever seen. I remember watching the The Day After many years ago, which apparently is the American counterpart, and I consider this the better take on a nuclear fallout scenario. A slow build to impending doom and just utter bleakness afterwards. 9/10 Currently on Shudder.
TheLeon
Host - at just under an hour long, I don't know if this technically qualifies as a film, but if it does, it's probably the "most 2020" film. Written, shot, and released this year, it's a found footage type movie that takes entirely over a Zoom call. Pretty fun, definitely worth a watch. It's on Shudder, but I weirdly found it under the AMC+ extension of Amazon Prime (which apparently includes Shudder, Sundance Now, and IFC films). Bloodporne
Okay, What We Do In The Shadows ended up getting really funny at the end of S1 and S2 has been great throughout. The episode focusing on Colin Robinson getting a promotion was fucking amazing, saw that last night. That character is SO good.

Keyser_Soze
Bleeding Steel: 6/10 - Since 2020 is the year of Jackie Chan I decided to watch this. I know people joke about Chinese bootlegs but this feels like they tried to emulate every American movie and combine them in one. The bad guy is basically Darth Vader mixed with a Borg. At one point they go into a "seedy neighborhood" and they thought hey graffiti is scary, what if we cover every inch of the set in graffiti? Also, the idea is Darth Vader is a biroid enhanced human but how does that explain how he and his henchmen have better technology than everyone else in the current time period? That being said it is a good looking movie, action is good enough. This is probably the only movie you'll see where people fight on top of the Sydney Opera House. gamer.tv
We watched the three part mini-series Black Narcissus. The BBC secures content that you could argue is the highest quality of any broadcaster. This series does not he’ll that argument. 3/10 - maybe a bit more - but it just didn’t work well.
