Keyser_Soze
Assassin's Creed: 7/10 - I remember initially being turned off about the idea of this becoming a movie, so I reluctantly gave the movie a chance 4 years later and I must say I am pleasantly surprised. First off it has a really good cast, like sneaky good. As far as the source material it seems to stick to the spirit of the games pretty well which is also probably it's biggest flaw. Like the games the most interesting parts are in the past. The present time stuff of course not as interesting but I felt like as a whole the movie was better than the games. Also, if you've played the games you somewhat know what to expect though there was no twist really. Going by critic reviews it seems a lot of them have not played the games so they deemed the story nonsense but if they had played the games they would know the games are nonsense as well so as far as adaptations go this one is good. elbobo
Mulan 2020 I never saw the original so I can't complain about or approve of changes. It was generic fine. 6.5/
elbobo
Schitt's Creek seasons 1-6 I liked it my girlfriend loved it. Characters that started as annoying the hell out of me grew over the years and became almost charming. Catherine O'hara is fantastic throughout. 7/
Bloodporne
Ratched I'm on episode 3 and I'm done so that tells you everything. I haven't read a single opinion nor review but it's boring drivel so far. It feels like a completely aimless, pointless Hitchcock parody without a plot beyond an endless stream of generic 'evil stuff'. I was interested due to the absurdly lavish style initially but by mid-episode-3, it seriously feels flat-out stupid and boring as fuck. 4/10 and that's only for the cinematography, sets and those poor actors TRYING to string something together here. SimpleG
I picked up the Vincent Price Collection Vol.1 Reissue from Scream Factory. I started with the Pit And The Pendulum. Visual : Outside a few scenes the quality is 8/10 Audio : It released with a clean Mono track , no cracks or pops . 5/5 Vincent Price as usual knocks it out of the park. Keyser_Soze
Welcome to Waikiki Season 2: 8/10 - I know I gave the first season high praise to @Greatoneshere and the second season is a bit different yet in the end enjoyable. Having 2 seasons of shows seems to be very rare for Korean shows but as someone who enjoyed the first there's no reason to not jump into season 2. Without spoilers for the first season, off the bat there is only 1 returning character (well 2 or 3 technically (if you consider a car a character) but only 1 major character) And the explanation of why they are gone or what happened is kind of awkward. Instead of a Director, Actor and writer we now have a baseball player, actor and singer. It' still funny though maybe a bit too much bodily humor at times. In any case this feels less like a sequel and more of a slight retelling, and if you let go of the canon of the first (if it even matters) the quicker you can enjoy this one. Also, bonus for @thewhyteboar I was surprised to see Sohee playing a major part on this show. Wonder Girls were my first Kpop group!

Mercury33
Color Out of Space 9/10 Really really enjoyed it. This is my favorite kind of horror. Not overly reliant on Gore or Jump Scares. Sprinkled in practical effects. Just a lot of crazy shit. Nicolas Cage is awesome in this. I really cool snd well done adaptation of Lovecrafts short story. I guess this is part of a planned Trilogy? If so I’m really looking forward to the next two.
Keyser_Soze
Piranha DD: 5/10 - I had seen the first Piranha 3D movie some time ago and while I remember nothing about it, my notes tell me I enjoyed it. The sequel is, well not as good I guess. It takes place in a water park rather than a lake so the stakes are lower already. You can see the jokes coming and a lot of them fall flat. It does have the guy from The Leftovers in it so you can hang your hat on that if you want.
Mercury33
Haven’t done this since before my son was born. Doing 31 horror movies in 31 days through October. Lotta fun and a cool way to catch up on a lot of films. Day 4: The Invitation - 7/10 Really enjoyed this. Great atmosphere and the suspense is really well done. Few nice red herrings that play with genre tropes. Logan Marshall Greene was fantastic as always. The third act is a little flat which is kinda common for this genre but there’s a tiny twist at the very end that’s very cool. Day 1: Color Out of Space - 9/10 Day 2: The Void - 6/10 Day 3: Re-Animator(rw) - 10/
Keyser_Soze
#Alive: 7/10 - Saw this up on Netflix and my queen Park Shin-hye was in it so how could I not watch it? It's fine, nothing groundbreaking and even somewhat predictable but good enough to waste your time with and enjoy I suppose.

SimpleG
Southbound Low budget horror anthology. The stories are interconnected but all but 1 falls flat in terms of anything. Everything is very vague and while enjoy a film that leaves thing to the viewers imaginations this fall more into the " were not sure what we want or how to implement it" side of the spectrum. 4/10 Heat Michael Manns classic cops and robbers film. 9/

I feel like they haven't read the story in forever. Like much of Lovecraft's stories, it's vague as Hell. It never goes into specific details really, other than to basically spend a few paragraphs at a time saying 'And then people were really worried, but they couldn't explain why', or 'Bad things were happening down at the farm' but not explaining what. The movie, in my opinion, did a great job at filling in the finer details to flesh out a more full movie. A straight adaptation would have been a ten minute short film of Nic Cage looking concerned while people mysteriously vanished and no lines of dialog. I’m not sure how you could be upset at the adaption. If it was just whats in the story you’d never see what actually happens. It’s mostly just hinted at by a third party. Mercury33
Hubie Halloween 7/10 Adam Sandler’s new Halloween Netflix movie. It’s def more of a bottom tier Sandler. But there are TONS of nods to a lot of his other movies. Lots of fun cameos. It reminded me a lot of Grown Ups in that it comes across like Sandler and his friends just got together to make a silly movie. If you go in with low expectations it’s a fun seasonal movie. If I'm gonna give my honest opinion, I feel like a lot of the 'Hardcore Lovecraft fans' out there base their knowledge of Lovecraft on a combination of the more pop culture side of the Cthulhu mythos and having read the stories 10+ years ago as kids. It wouldn't surprise me if the closest many of these people got to actually reading The Colour Out of Space was the Wiki synopsis.
Mercury33
3 From Hell - 6/10 Well, I didn’t hate it. But it’s certainly a large step down from Devils Rejects which is a borderline master piece and House of 1000 Corpses which is just a really fun homage movie. The loss of Sid Haig hurts the dynamic so much. And Zombies wife goes way too over the top for most of the movie. Bill Moseley is still great and there are moments when Babys character is dialed down a bit and you get a glimpse of the old magic. Sucks that Zombie seemed like he was headed in an amazing direction and then just got stuck in mediocrity.

I think someone was able to reign him in for Rejects., it also feels more original. 1000 corpses felt like he watched every grind house horror flick and tried to cram it all in. 31 is the same way but upped a notch. Far to often he’s just riffing on others ideas. Also Sherri Moon is a fucking terrible actress.

It was such a refined step up from House and the Halloween’s weren’t really bad just the story sucked. Well, the second one sucked. But yeah with each passing movie it really does clear that Devils Rejects was an accident and Zombie is terrible haha

Keyser_Soze
One Missed Call: 5/10 - When I saw Meagan Good in the opening scene I thought this movie could have the potential to be good, but she was killed off within minutes and then it was all downhill from there. Pretty frustrating to see characters not believe in their own fate and the police just saying, " Iduno 🤷♀️" - However, the rest isn't just that great either. I mentioned it before in another movie but if you have crappy CG in your movie it doesn't look scary, and this film was not scary. Sounds like I should get around to watching the original that this is based on. Seeing that Takashi Miike directed it already makes it sound like a better movie. silentbob
Superman: Man of Tomorrow 3.5/5 almost like Spider-Man movies, we get another “origin story” with this latest animated movie. Still it was fun because they gave us Lobo and Parasite in the film. The animation was different as if a mixture of a comic book met the deep black outlines of Archer. So a little jarring at first (I’m use to my WB DC movies having a certain animation style) but was fun to watch. Sound was good with some nicely subwoofer action and a few good panning effects too. Not something I would buy and watch over and over again, but worth a viewing for Superman fans. (Ok, I did buy it but it was only $10Cnd)
Mercury33
Bone Tomahawk - 9/10 The horror marathon continues. This one sorta skirts the edge a bit but who fucking cares, phenomenal movie. God the only thing that would have made it more perfect was if Sid Haig was in the role of the deputy and we got him for the whole movie. I don’t know how they got the cast they did for this but they all seemed like they really wanted to be there. Amazing performances all around. SimpleG
Romero Remix The Crazies 2010- Solid cast, drops some of the side story of the original but works out better. 6.5 Dawn Of The Dead 2004- Synder and Gunn drop all the subtext of the original for more action . Its not a bad film its just very much a popcorn flick. The opening 20 mins are very well done showing the first onslaught which most zombie films dont show. 7/

If it's on, it stays on pretty much. I especially have to stay for the last 20-30 minutes starting from when "Rosie did what she could" happens, the confrontation with Elsa, the fantastical battle scene, and finally "the dance". I generally hate child actors but this was a definite exception. This is just a beautiful, dark, and charming movie. I loved the foreshadowing of scenes with Rosie's shoes and Jojo's head. I loved how lines were re-used: doing what you can, dancing is freedom, trust, exiting the front door. When you get to "that scene", the look of the houses and that they're always watching. Thomasin McKenzie's subtle facial expressions at the end were well done: getting her shoes tied and calling Jojo to dance with her. Also, the use of the German versions of I Want to Hold Your Hand and Heroes. A lot of love for all of the supporting characters as well, especially Captain K. Mercury33
The Platform 8/10 I have a soft spot for these sort of dystopian, single set, isolationist horror movies. This one has a pretty interesting premise. Solid allegory the class system and sorta trickle down economics. Really liked it.
