Pikachu
A few select reviews: Variety: The delightful 'Wreck-It Ralph' sequel expands significantly on Disney's original, turning the vintage arcade meanie into an unwitting internet meme. THR: Deftly defying expectation, Ralph Breaks the Internet, the inevitable sequel to 2012’s $189.4 million-grossing Wreck-It Ralph, absolutely crushes it. LA Times: It has wit and energy to burn, but 'Ralph Breaks the Internet' takes a cynical turn Slate: Ralph Breaks the Internet Is Remarkably Smart About What It Feels Like to Live Online

TheLeon
I want to show my niece the first one. Hopefully she likes it, so I have an excuse to go see this one.
sexy_shapiro
I loved the first one but this looks like the Disney version of The Emoji Movie. I’ll check it out but I’m in no rush.
ort
I agree that the trailers have left me feeling cold, but I remember not liking the trailers for the first one either...
LazyPiranha
Yeah, people felt the trailers for the first were bad and it was just going to be Remember Video Games: The Movie. Seems to have good reviews going for it, so hopefully it's just mediocre marketing again.

The way the film relates that to the Internet is fairly surface level, at least on my initial viewing.
Anzo
I really liked it. As SBL said, the “internet” is merely the canvas on which a story about friendship is painted. There is a mid-credit scene and a post credit scene that are absolutely perfect!
Anzo
NOT A SPOILER!! My kids noticed a cool little detail during the credits. There is a browser scroll bar to the right that scrolls down with the credits.
misfit410
Took my son to see it yesterday and we both loved it, honestly it's one of the most important messages a kid can learn (though I mostly say that because I've experienced way too many times having several friends in my life who were clingy to the point of insanity, going out of their way to sabotage any plans I had that did not include them.. I hope they watch this movie and get it)
LazyPiranha
Saw it today with the family. It was a lot of fun and managed to avoid being too meme humor focused while also not feeling like a total retread of the original. I do miss some of the world building from the original as they've got established things to work off of, but I thought they were actually surprisingly relevant in their choices. I never expected a Disney movie of all things to bring up the concept of stupid valuable digital items like the steam marketplace.
EternallDarkness
it was fun but I think I prefer the original, post credit scene was an instant classic

My audience had a reaction of "whaaaat?!" and "omg omg omg"...and then..perfect execution. Yeah, I liked the movie. Good story, and I felt they did a good job expanding their world from the first movie. Everything with the Disney princesses was great too. Anzo
Yes! I fully expected the princesses to be just the scene we saw in the trailers but they triple downed on it in great way. 🎶Slaughter Race 🎶😂

LazyPiranha
Not surprising, the theater I was in was packed and they had four screens for it. I'm sure the 3d upcharge didn't hurt either.
ort
I found this pretty disappointing. Felt like it lacked the charm and nuance of the first one. Didn't like the internet setting and found most of the jokes to be very played out and tired. Would have much preferred they stuck with the world of video games for the backdrop. It wasn't bad or anything, but I love the first movie so much, that this felt like a big let down in comparison. It just didn't feel like it came together well. CastlevaniaNut18
Just finished watching it and I loved it. The Disney Princess scenes were gold. I loved they retained all the original voice actors where it was possible.
TwinIon
I wasn't a big fan. It felt clumsy in a way. There are some great gags and the Disney princess bits are wonderful, but even though they obviously thought through the arcs, it didn't feel natural. It was never bad, but it was never really great either.
