Firewithin
It's nice you think spiderman will win anything when God of war and rdr is there. I think spiderman should win awards though
skillzdadirecta
Spiderman is probably my GOTY too.
CastlevaniaNut18
Oddly, nothing just super wowed me this year. I liked some games quite a bit and I've still got games to complete, but right now, God of War is probably my GotY.

Moa
Feels like it has been a year of competent but mostly forgettable games.
crispy4000
Xenoblade 2 definitely got shafted for the music and RPG categories. Already was last year because of their release date cut off. The choral tracks in that game deserve major props in particular.

Paperclyp
I am not one to complain a whole lot about awards nominations, but god damn are a lot of those games some shit nominations. Detroit being nominated for anything, let alone plot awards, should immediately disqualify the legitimacy of awards show. And like, octopath is an OK game, but iirc there’s not really a whole lot of music to that game. And it certainly didn’t wow me. I habe other opinions but those ones immediately popped out at me. LazyPiranha
Who did David Cage bribe/fellate in order to get those nominations?
Moa
I haven't played Detroit, but just look at the competition. Any game with a story at all seems to have been nominated.
stepee
That’s certainly a list of big budget popular games from this year.
skillzdadirecta
Lol was Detroit that bad? I always thought David Gage sucked as a storyteller but most gamers loved him.

Moa
I want a game where the twist is that the robots aren't really sentient. Was Detroit bad or just obvious?

But based on what I've heard, I really don't want to unless I want to yell at the TV a lot. And I don't mean because it presents an emotionally compelling story. Man_of_X
What the fuck ever. I see a lot of David Cage hate and not much more. Detroit was very good, as was Beyond: Two Souls.

"Are robots people" is an actual discussion that will eventually need to happen as tech advances and AI becomes more powerful. At what point have we stopped emulating a thinking being, and at what point have we created one is actually a debate. "Are these people actually people" is not a debate. At all. To even begin to conflate the two is both stupid and profoundly misguided.
Xbob42
Obra Dinn only nominated for art direction and "best indie game"? Man, the story in that game has hooked me more than any of the top-tier schlock we've had this year. Fucking Detroit? 1 hour ago, Man_of_X said: What the fuck ever. Mercury33
If RDR wins anything other than technical awards. That game came across like the game version of Oscar Bait.
