I am actually on YOUR side, in the Israeli debate, but if this is how you view things, then it is no wonder your words will "eventually" fall on deaf ears!  What they did helps NO ONE, and causes more distrust, and loathing within their alliances...  They have every right to defend themselves, and I do believe they have, to this point, had enough goodwill to be successful. 

 

But this IS a terrorist maneuver, that didn't need to be done.  There aggression was "supposedly" aimed at HAMAS, and I could totally understand that, but you are just courting further battles, at this point, and that is a recipe for disaster.  Not just for Israel, but for the entire region.

60,000 Israelis have been evacuated for the northern border area because of Hezbollah rocket attacks since this started a year ago. That's kind of like the US having to evacuate 3 million people within 2 miles of the US Mexican because the Cartels discovered drones as retaliation for arresting their leadership. 

 

Given all the various factors for Israel, especially the lack of credibly deterrents from Iran/friends and lack of US will to stop you, why wouldn't you take advantage of the situation to degrade Hamas? Once Iran gets a nuke, all of these options become significantly harder.

Israeli settlements in the West Bank are not okay. Neither is killing tens of thousands of innocents and reducing their cities to rubble. Do you know what causes groups like Hamas to exist?

You are not DEGRADING Hamas!  An attack on Hezbollah has now enraged OTHER factions (Which were already a significant nuisance in this conflict), into uniting, even further! 

 

The organization of Hamas was on its last legs after roughly 30,000 Palestinians were killed... many multiples of that, displaced...  (I wonder what that would equate to in your "imagined" U.S./Middle East equation? - and trust me, I abhor when conservatives do shit like this as well!, as it is a false equivalence; based solely on how a person views their given region).

I meant Hezbollah, my bad.

 

Hezbollah, has caused 100,000 Israelis to be evacuated for over a year. Bibi's political future (lack of, so he doesn't give a fuck anymore), plus the lack of Iranian interest in a war, plus the the intensity of the US supporters they've still got because of October 7th, gives you a once a lifetime opportunity to degrade Hezbollah who are Israel's number one external threat (short an Iranian nuke). 

 

Hezbollah mauled the IDF in 2006 which was before they got crazy strong after the Syrian Civil War. Massive reforms were made to the IDF (a lot of the lessons being learned in Ukraine, Israel learned in 2006). Every time prior to October 7th a Hezbollah rocket got fired off, everyone held their breath that this was the start of a massive war that would have 10,000 dead Israelis in an afternoon due to Hezbollah's stockpile of rockets and missiles. 

 

If Israel has the opportunity to weaken Hezbollah, without starting a full on war (because Iran and Russia stand to lose the most), Israel would be crazy not to take that opportunity.

I view it this way...  They (Israel) may have just escalated a war they could win to a war that will cause significantly more time/lives to see to completion (If that is even possible, at this point)...
