They turned into pointless exposition about genes and nano machines etc etc and was so over bearing it killed the series for me. I understand the criticisms he has for it, but I think it becomes a bit of you’re either in or you’re not (at the time tho especially that critique was extremely valid as we didn’t really know what type of game an unleashed kojima wanted to make, so after MGS it was particularly jarring). It coming out just before the pandemic absolutely killed the game for me especially because I didn't get around to playing it until lockdown. Getting to play as an essential worker in a post pandemic/catastrophe world just hit too close to home while sitting in my room in lockdown due to a pandemic. Fantastic game. Looking forward to the new one. I took a break but at some point I plan to go back and finish up all of the side content I didn't get to. I've always thought he made it clear that he never really liked games in their own right. He pretty much stumbled into his job at Tech TV and ended up getting assigned to video games and was like "ok," but he never really cared about video games in particular.
