Open copies probably not but sealed copies will be a little due to scarcity and it having a story. I would be less bullish if not for how hard Sony pulled it down yesterday.

Nah, used copy will not be worth as much in the long run for this disaster. Also to find a used copy I would actually need to know someone who bought it. I was only able to get this because I bought it off amazon.ca when the announcement was made.

There is a disc. I'm never opening my copy. This is purely to collect for the story of this hot mess and to see what happens to its value over a long time.

Ryan Ellis was the hero shooter's game director at Firewalk Studios

In the time since, Kotaku understands that developers at Firewalk Studios have been in limbo about their future as they await Sony’s decision about what comes next for Concord and the team.

 

Whatever ends up happening, game director Ryan Ellis will not be at the helm. Formerly at Bungie where he served as creative director on Destiny 2, Ellis left in 2017 to lead development on what would eventually become Concord. He told staff at Firewalk last week that he would be stepping down from his game director role and move into a support role instead, according to three sources familiar with the change.

The video behind this has more detail, it should be released Monday for non Patreon subs. Colin spoke to this developer for over an hour, and confirmed on background that they were a part of the dev team all along. 
 

At the start of 2023, they had nothing. No onboarding, nothing related to live services, and they had to farm a bunch of it out to get it done.

 

Interestingly, the Credit sequence was put on YouTube and is over an hour long 😆 

 

The other fun drama was watching Era meltdown because it came from Colin. It’s funny watching them scream that he’s lying and has no sources when he has guys like Ken Levine, Cliffy B, Tom from Moores Law, Matt Stoller on his podcast regularly. They had Todd Howard on their Xbox Show. The guy from Tales of Kenzera (and House of the Dragon HBO series). Gene Park works for him. It’s fine that they don’t like him, but denying reality because you don’t like someone is really weird behaviour.

The only marketing I saw for this game was the initial reveal trailer, and then at release there was a couple banner advertisements on the Playstation Store for a few short days. Did they think streamers were going to do the job for them? Maybe they were so broke by the end of development they had nothing left.

I heard that some Destiny devs went over to work on Concord to help. Could it be that may that is false or that Concord is now being used as a bin to sweep a bunch of loss from various studios into a single loss that will be written off on taxes? 
 

like say that now they paid Bungie $40M for “consulting” or something. And paid other Sony studios for various services.

There were streamers, ads, etc.

 

but I think Colin might be wrong in not including the cost of buying the studio. He’s also getting the information from a dev, but that doesn’t mean they are completely correct about the cost. The toxic positivity has been confirmed by another journalist who quoted Moriarty’s tweet on the subject. 
 

But yeah. One hour credit sequence is telling.

I did the same thing. The guy at the store told my fiancée that we couldn’t get a refund on it later, as a warning if we really wanted to buy it. But I was buying it for different reasons than playing. 😅

 

If nothing happens to the price long term, whatever. 🤷
