Rock the Vote '24: update (10/14) - Harris to be interviewed by Fox News on Wednesday

Not that it really matters for crap, but I was hoping to see Vance’s attacks on walz military service come up.

I feel like that would have been a softball layup for him to really push back on it and make Vance look like the mewling little dipshit he is.

After reading through things, it seems pretty evident that once Trump is gone politics will return to normal.  We just have this odd expectation that everything is going to be shit all the time cause thats what everything he touches turns to.

The “no fact checking during debates” thing is idiotic. Past debates had it with no push back. Romney famously got f’n owned in his second debate with Obama via a fact check. It was usually used during more egregious lies, not “the deficit went up by $6.8 million, not $7 million, senator”.

In tone only. Remember Vance didn’t have it make it through a Republican presidential primary to get where he is now. The inmates still run the asylum

Yeah but at least you can have a conversation about it this way. There's no conversation with Trump.

Even Vance is calling for a mass pogrom against “illegals” (read: black and brown folks and also anyone not sufficiently on board with maga) hastily created internment camps, and state violence in this country on a scale we haven’t seen since the Indian wars or before. They’re not trying to hide it! This is what mass deportation will be, this is what they’re calling for, top to bottom, there is no conversation to be had about this shit.

Everything they’re calling for has a long history and tradition in this country and because it will be affected based on a persons alleged legal status and supposed lack of citizenship and not explicitly the color of their skin, I fear the courts would give them full reign to do whatever they want, especially since there is no known “list” of illegal immigrants.

Trump is the symptom not the cause, and they will find another Trump because they have to have another Trump. We get a reprieve for four years if we win now but this is the direction maga and the right is going with no sign of stopping.

its not even 4 years.  they keep running these fucking psychos for house/senate and its constant campaign shit after maybe like a year.  its like a never ending exhausting cycle it seems

I mean they can only do so much in congress. The presidency is where the real power lies this days

The rest of them are awkward uncharismatic dorks like Vance, Cruz, and Desantis.  They love a "strong" leader, and the Ivy League lawyer pretenders don't scratch that itch.

So I'm digging through this thread but according to the sources I've read, Vance gets the win here.

Not that means anything at all really. In fact, it litteraly does nothing to this election lol.

Vance presents himself well in a debate environment.  He appeared to be a relatively "normal" polished politician last night.  But he's dog shit when it comes to normal day to day interactions.

I thought they were pretty much tied. It doesn't help that the standard for Vance was basically  "just don't be a fucking weirdo".

So dead heat on immigration/economy and huge edge on health/child care and abortion for Walz.

It was refreshing from my perspective to hear Vance admit that the GOP is doing a horrible job in terms of abortion politics.

God debates are so fucking stupid. So Vance edges out the "win" but people thought Walz did better on the two issues and approximately tied for the other 3.

Sports-brained nonsense.

Also expectations, JD Vance came in as a joke and following Trump’s disasterclass, and ended up not being a complete buffoon.

Where are you getting the information that Vance came in as a joke? The right really supports him and he performs well in a situation like last night. Walz didn't come off confident and wasn't in his element.

Vance knew the assignment and probably spent the better part of the last month drilling it.  Walz didn't do as well because he's in his element on the campaign trail and interacting with people.

Vance is an empty husk of a man that wants power and can be filled with whatever is needed to go for that.  Trump runs and people fret over the fact that he's a stupid dipshit, then he'll be the voice of reason.  Trump becomes the GOP, then Vance becomes Trump's biggest acolyte.  Vance goes on a douchey podcast and says dumb things because the hosts instigate.  He prepped for the debate so he managed to look fine.  Maybe next time he needs to do the thing where he pretends to be normal, his team will prep the restaurant or bakery ahead of time.

If Trump loses and Vance survives the inevitable knife that Trump sticks in his back, then he'll be something completely different in a year or two.
