I think Trump the showman is a big believer in that old saying about how "Any publicity is good publicity". But on top of that, despite what his campaign seems to be telling him, I think he is convinced anytime he is talking about race he is winning. When you couple all that with a scenario in which Harris continues to pull away I think it could get really bad. Especially since Harris and Walz seem to be settling in on a Happy Warrior type optimistic campaign. Trump may decide his only move at the debate is to drag Harris into the mud, blow up the whole race, and just gamble that even if he limps away from the wreckage she is hurt even more....
