I say this with some caution....

But I have never EVER been THIS excited about a presidential ticket in my life. And it isn't just because we have to beat Donald Trump. Take him out of the equation, and the vibes are just off the charts. Walz is so good. Harris has what it takes.

I was smiling EAR TO EAR through Walz entire speech.

I couldn't believe he invoked the couch meme.

This guy is GOOD. Harris made a good choice, and it only shows how good her judgement is in picking him.

Every one of Harris' rallies has had a sense of magic to it. This rally had that, with HOPE. I don't remember when I've felt this patriotic.

speaking of ears, I can’t believe that I truly did think when that right wing gun nut kid shot at trump it was all going to be over, but tbf I had mostly subsided on that by morning

I missed all of the Obama hype in 2008 because I wasn’t in the country at the time. Also didn’t have a TV or computer. But people are saying this feels like then. And it’s awesome.

I wouldn't say this hits quite the same high, but the vibe is definitely close.

I hope that this energy is reflected at the voting booth… that the voting loss by Trump is so big that even his acts of “fraud” barely make a ripple in him being thoroughly and completely beaten… however unlikely that is…

how great would it be that the things that the MAGAts demonize endlessly females, minorities, and educators are the ones building a ticket to beat back the Trump cult..

loved everything i’ve heard from walz leading up to this. to people who pay closer attn, what’s supposed to be the downside to him politically?

Apparently he ran a 4-4 defense as a high school coach. That kinda fancy-pants defense might not play well in SEC country.

Tim Walz was in the midst of his interview with Vice President Kamala Harris’ vetting team when he told them there was something important they needed to know.

Quote

Asked how he saw his role as VP, Walz said he would perform the job however Harris wanted him to. Asked if he wanted to be the last person in the room before Harris made a decision, Walz said only if she wanted him to be there.

And asked if he had ambitions to run for president himself one day, Walz said he did not, a point that sources said was not lost on a team looking to minimize the potential for any internal drama in a future Harris administration.

“He had a very clear understanding that it was to be a partner, but to support the president, go out and connect with America and be that governing partner,” said Cedric Richmond, a former Louisiana congressman and Biden White House adviser who was deeply involved in the selection process. “It’s not the easiest of positions, but it’s a very important position.”

Beyond the personal chemistry Harris and her team felt toward Walz, people familiar with the interview process said that Walz was also someone Harris felt could attract the kinds of voters that Democrats have lost to Donald Trump— voters that Harris may not be able to connect with on her own.

“He hunts, he fishes, you want to have a beer with him,” said the source familiar with Walz’s meeting. “He will play in Michigan, Wisconsin, Western Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina.”

A longtime Democratic operative who has known Walz for years agreed, saying: “He talks and looks like a lot of the voters we’ve lost to Trump.”

Still occasionally weird to see conservatives go totally mask off and say shit that boils down to, “can you believe this little freak made sure girls in school had access to tampons and kids in school had free lunch???”

I gotta imagine that there's a GOP opposition research specialist who is looking at a thick dossier titled "Ellen Greenberg" somewhat regretfully that he/she won't get the chance to use it.

To be fair, I'm hearing that Shapiro conducted his one on one interview in such a manner that he basically took himself out the running. He didn't really want to be the number two and wasn't really ready to give up his Governorship. Also people are saying that it's good we don't have two lawyers at the top of the ticket. So yeah, this may have been the best choice out of those available.

According to the CNN article I posted, Shapiro allegedly seemed to be "negotiating" what his role as VP would be which probably didn't go over all that well :p

But that case just seems like a political nightmare waiting to happen.

Harris -- like Shapiro -- is a prosecutor, so I could well imagine herself imagining what she'd do if confronted with that situation and evaluating Shapiro's actions accordingly.

I do like how right now there are rooms of super serious political strategists discussing how they can move past the “couch sex problem”

My opinion? He has to do it. Livestream it. It’s really the only way, he has to take ownership of it and create his own narrative.

The best tactic would be just to lean into it and get in on the joke to take the teeth out.  But Trumpism is against any kind of self deprecation or self mocking to an idiotic level.
