It would become their entire identity until they were removed from the public sphere for being a distraction. It would have ended any other persons career, but because right wingers are all amoral vile garbage people who believe in absolutely nothing, Trump gets a pass. It doesn't matter how outraged the other side gets if your own side just laughs it off. The GOP just laughs it off because they know their audience is dumb enough, shit brained enough and horrible enough that they will just accept whatever narrative is pushed their way.
