What are the odds Biden sticks to his guns if the party leaders are calling on him to step down?

It's really his call, the party can't shove him out without taking even more damage than dragging this shit into public has already caused.

Also, Jeffries supposedly also told Biden the same as Schumer as well.

Jeffries is allegedly the mastermind of Hochul killing congestion pricing in NYC at the last minute, claiming it would jeopardize House seats on Long Island. Schumer has also been pretty silent on that despite putting a ton of effort into securing multiple billions of federal matching funds for the Second Avenue Subway extension that will now be forfeited because of no congestion pricing. And congestion pricing wasn't going to be an election issue until Hochul made it one. Not really trusting their instincts on what makes Congress winnable.

This was from earlier today, lol.

Response from Trump campaign senior advisor

@DJTFPHughes

: “We don’t know who the Democrat nominee for Vice President is going to be, so we can’t lock in a date before their convention. To do so would be unfair to Gavin Newsom, JB Pritzker, Gretchen Whitmer, or whoever Kamala Harris picks as her running mate.”

It’s worth noting that they released this almost right after a leaked audio recording of Vance stating that he’d like to see abortion be illegal nationally.

brb, changing my legal name to Younger Democrat

Yeah that’s the thing right? younger democrat in general sounds good but put a name on them and support drops to just a few points above Biden now. Which is notable and yet not shocking if you talk to actual human beings and not the internet.

"Generic candidate vs Trump" polls are silly for reasons already mentioned.  Literally the only candidate they can go with is Harris paired with a white guy from the South or Midwest.  But it really feels like they aren't bothering to raise her profile much while trying to tell Biden it's time to retire.

Axios is claiming that "Top Democrats" now believe that Biden will exit the race and announce it by this weekend.

Biden team just responded with, essentially, "go fuck yourself" in political speak.

This is what drives me nuts.  There's an army of political consultants and party big-wigs kneecapping their incumbent candidate and calling for him to step down and their reasoning is that "generic democrat polls better than Biden, so a replacement would do better", yet they can't point to a single poll where a specific replacement does better than Biden outside the MOE. (Harris consistently polls worse)

Then when this is pointed out their response is "Oh well but they will once the campaign gets going", and they have literally no evidence to support this except vibes.  So the argument comes down to "let's throw out the tremendous advantages of incumbency and overlook what happens historically when you do so because vibes".

Even typically shrewd veterans like Carville are saying this shit.  I don't know what's going on but suddenly all the veterans of the party are acting like they just got into partisan politics yesterday.

For what's worth they did the same thing with young republican vs Biden and the results were even more in favor of the young republican.

Harris has more potential upside, with ya know actually being able to speak, much younger than both, a woman and a minority, which basically hits all of the dems base, whether that comes to reality is the question.
