Commissar SFLUFAN
One person with knowledge of the deal told Kotaku they’d heard it was “90%” finished. Said a second person: “It’s a matter of when, not if.” There is little doubt in my mind that Obsidian is DOA without this deal.

Mr.Vic20
I honestly can't say if this is good or bad for Obsidian, but given their history with publishers, I hope someone on the team remembers!

Commissar SFLUFAN
Just a reminder, it was Stormlands, a cancelled Xbox One project for Microsoft, that nearly drove Obsidian into oblivion in March 2012.

legend
And to be clear, it's not that I'm wholly against them being bought, if that's what it's come to. But I'd much rather it be someone like Sony if they have to be bought. MS has to do a lot to regain my confidence in them and I'd rather not risk Obsidian falling victim to their BS. crispy4000
I'm all for this. Sounds like Obsidion gets a new lease on life, and Microsoft gets an IP portfolio boost and a solid studio.
The def star
If MS wants to have the success of Netflix with their Game Pass service they need their studios to pump out content for it. I think it's a good move for MS if they actually put out the games instead of cancelling them

Jason
Obsidian has a pretty solid track record of making better versions of other companies' games, so while I get where @legend is coming from I hope this goes through and that the financial stability it will afford them will let them really shine.
