SoberChef
The upcoming serial killer horror movie marks the return of director Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Gretel & Hansel). Nicolas Cage stars alongside Maika Monroe, with Monroe playing an FBI agent and Cage playing a serial killer. Longlegs is said to be “in the vein of classic Hollywood psychological thrillers.” In the film, “FBI Agent Lee Harker (Monroe) is a gifted new recruit assigned to the unsolved case of an elusive serial killer (Cage). As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.” The marketing so far has been sublime to see, just today Neon released 4 images: Spoiler The birthday girl. 8 years old. TheLeon
Maybe I’m just a pessimist, but I’m feeling like there’s no way the movie lives up to these teasers.

TheLeon
The only Oz Perkins movie I’ve seen is The Blackcoat’s Daughter, which had a good spooky vibe but was ultimately pretty boring. I hope this one can deliver on the story side of things.

SoberChef
Review embargo is lifted and so far, amazing reviews! ‘Longlegs’ Review – Oz Perkins’ Latest Gets Under Your Skin and Festers Like a Putrid Nightmare BLOODY-DISGUSTING.COM Longlegs Review - Is the latest horror movie from Oz Perkins, starring Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage, worth seeking out? Greatoneshere
Been only hearing amazing things about it so far. Nicolas Cage has been dropping at least one banger basically each year to go with all the crap movies he does per year. Mandy and Into the Spider-Verse in 2018, Color Out of Space in 2019, Pig in 2021, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent in 2022, Renfield and Dream Scenario in 2023 and now Longlegs and apparently The Surfer is another one getting a lot of festival buzz that he stars in also coming out this year. Gone are the lean Cage years where we only got four good movies total from him between 2006 to 2017 due to his tax issues, etc. It's great to see him back in good movies again consistently.

Brick
36 minutes ago, SoberChef said: Oh ye of little faith! Oh I figured it would be good, but the marketing gimmick of "look 100% on RottenTomatoes" with less than a dozen reviews, from smaller, more fan run sites is just kind of annoying at this point.
SoberChef
Currently eyeing up to a potential $20M haul opening weekend, the biggest opening for a NEON film & 3rd highest grossing film of theirs ... ON OPENING WEEKEND!
TheLeon
I liked it a lot. Great sense of unease through the whole thing, the sound design in particular had me stressed out. I’m very interested in seeing what the general audience reaction to this is going to be. There was a couple sitting next to me, and the guy seemed pretty locked into it, but the woman kept angrily muttering “what the fuck is this movie?” which I think actually enhanced my experience. 1
Moa
3/3 Best horror movie I've seen since Hereditary. Spoiler Everything was shot so well, the trees alone deserve best supporting Actor. The movie positively oozed tension and claustrophobia. I also enjoy that it managed to explain what was going on in a satisfying way, and I don't need to find a "Longlegs ending untangled" video.
SoberChef
Estimates project a $22.6M weekend haul, which is insane. Even Hereditary only cleared just over $13M on its opening weekend.

Brick
Saw it tonight, and it was good, weird, but good. I didn't love it as much as I was hoping to, but it's one of those movies I'm going to have to sit and think about.
skillzdadirecta
I saw it Friday anad had the same feeling @Brick had. It was good and very atmospheric, but I didn't love it as much as I thought I would and I kinda saw the ending coming a mile away. Still worth a watch though.
