My love for T1/T2/Salvation really clashing with my total disinterest in pretty much all anime.

August 29th release day *chef's kiss*

Another Salvation fan - nice. Movie is underrated (obviously doesn't touch T1 and T2 but it's a good movie with some dope set pieces).

Salvation was only marginally interesting because of the Sam Worthington's character, but since they focused on Christian Bale it was a terrible movie. Wouldn't expect any less from McG.

It's better than T3 (which I like actually, especially committing to the ending) and its definitely better than Genisys. Dark Fate was . . . fine. I think our bar for Terminator movies needs to be pretty low and Salvation clears that bar. Obviously the TV series The Sarah Connor Chronicles is the best Terminator media we've gotten since T2, but I do like T3 and Salvation.

The somewhat weirder part of these movies is John Connors going from looking like Edward Furlong in 1995 to Nick Stahl in 2004 to Christian Bale in 2018 (the years their respective films take place). And Claire Danes in 2004 turning into Bryce Dallas Howard in 2018.

Yeah, the T3 ending is solid and made the movie.

I enjoyed T3 and Genisys was better than Salvation.

They couldn't even make the title look sensible. Instantly worse. I know it's a made up name in the movie but why the "i" over an "e"? Movie isn't good but it just looks dumb spelled out. :p

It makes sense in the context of the movie though.

The spelling doesn't unless I'm forgetting something. Though this is the least of that movie's problems.

It was an allusion to iOS or something, so it was intentionally spelled in a dumb way. I think the title in a vacuum is dumb but when they introduce it into the plot it's fine.

However, turns out it has a deeper meaning which sounds stupid

Still wondering why the "Terminator Genisys" title had an oddly spelled version of "genesis" in the title?

It's dumb, the film could have gone with anything. That film was plagued with dodgy CGI and a number of production issues and the stupid name just encompasses all of that.

Watched the first two episodes. Pretty good so far. It's mostly a lot of story setup with some action in there as well. I think the animation looks better than it did in the trailers.

Watching subbed because I'm not a savage and best of all no annoying japanese women voices! :o

I think here were be a small contingent of people who might be upset by a certain few aspects of the show, you'll probably figure it out yourself when you watch it. :whistlin:

Since I've had a few moments to ruminate on it, I thought I'd give further insight on the first two episodes (I'll get to a couple more soon). These aren't necessarily plot spoilers but just observations of the time period and setting (so if you consider those spoilers then don't read I guess)

I really like the attention to the detail on the show. One of the earlier shots of the facade of the toy story for instance, you may recognize something familiar.

In any case the lady is there to pick up a Koneko toy from the store. This literally means kitten in Japanese for all you gaijin out there. But it didn't occur to me until recently that  this is just a play on something that existed back then, the AIBO!

Spoiler

The show was also setting up these robot assistants and I thought hey they look kind of lame but then it clicked for me that these things also existed back then, the ASIMO

Spoiler

So now what I thought was kind of lame, I'm totally back on board.

I also like the the attention to detail with the cops that have their guns tethered to themselves.

This part is a sort of spoiler so I'll spoilerize it. I'm not sure this actually exists in Japan but it seems plausible

Spoiler

The underground city in case they get bombed again

Which makes me think that it must be challenging for Japanese animators to literally animate bombs dropping on Japan. All I can recall is Wade's infamous phrase "they should have dropped two bombs" but it's evolved into almost a Trumplike phrase: We're going to drop a second bomb and have Japan build it. :p

I wonder if they can even watch this in Japan. It seems pretty extreme. 🤔

In any case that's just my further impressions of the show, just the first two episodes. Looking forward to watching more.
