AbsolutSurgen
Good riddance. Josh demonstrated he doesn't have what it takes to be a Head Coach, and Ziegler's decision making was highly questionable in both Free Agency and the draft. The talent level on the team wasn't great when they took over (they were lucky to go 10-7 in the year before), but it is objectively worse now. The Raiders have about $40 million of cap space tied up with Chandler Jones (cut) and JimmyG, so it's going to take a few years to recover from this.

Firewithin
so at this point anybody who even thinks about taking these jobs for this shit organization should just see it as an easy grift. hang around until you get fired and collect that pay day still

Somehow teams think he's amazing even though he was terrible in Denver and now Las Vegas. He just had the benefit of having the GOAT QB while he was in New England. Keyser_Soze
Well they do have a history of hiring old washed up coaches that's for sure. Are they still paying off Gruden's contract?

Quote Gruden signed a $100 million contract with the then-Oakland Raiders in 2018. According to the lawsuit, he is not being paid the remaining balance on the contract, which runs through 2027. Quote Gruden received $60 million of his $100 million “record-setting” contract with the Raiders at the time of his resignation, lawyers for the NFL said. The NFL also said Gruden settled with the Raiders “for an additional undisclosed sum.”

NFL teams seem to think the Belichick coaching tree and the Patriot way is something that can be duplicated elsewhere despite all evidence to the contrary. Mark Davis made a bad decision bringing these guys in, and some of the social media posts from team alumni are strongly suggesting that the locker room felt that Josh McD was the problem. The next step for the Raiders should be less focused on who the next coach is, and more focused on bringing in a competent GM and changing the culture in the building. Mark was trying to do that with these two jokers, but picked the wrong guys/direction. The move to Vegas has moved the Raiders from one of the lowest revenue teams in the league to the second highest -- someone will want to be the GM for this team.
AbsolutSurgen
Josh McDaniels' bad decisions lead to Raiders firing: What's next? - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM Let's sort through the numerous questionable moves that led to McDaniels' firing. Plus, what lies ahead for the Raiders? Quote Instead, the case for firing McDaniels and Ziegler is more comprehensive. I'm not sure a coach and general manager have ever gotten as many of their big decisions wrong over the first two years of their tenure than the now-deposed Raiders pairing. Everyone makes mistakes, and it's easy to use hindsight to correct calls, but many of the decisions they made looked foolish even in the moment. .... Unlike his father, though, Mark Davis' decisions haven't led to a single playoff victory, something the Raiders haven't realized in more than 20 years. Davis and Raiders fans are sick of the rebuilds and the mediocrity, but unless they take a long look in the mirror and admit that they need to start over, this organization is going to spend more time wandering in the desert. TBF, Al was the GM for the team when they were winning -- and that was in the era before analytics and proper scouting were really a thing. Al left the Raiders in a worse position than they are in now. I think Mark recognizes he needs to be a mostly-hands-off owner -- he just did a shitty job of picking the guys this time. Gruden was a great coach -- the problem with the previous regime was mostly not have a good/strong GM who had independence on the player personnel side. Gruden thought he knew how to pick FAs/draft picks -- but he was actually terrible at it.
