Maybe it's just coincidence, but I feel like I've been noticing some major spikiness with YouTube, even as a Premium member.
SoberChef
Oh yeah, same here Nokra, audio freezes & repeats a lot lately even I am noticing. Looking back, Youtube should have stayed on it's own & grown in lieu of the Google buyout.

I think Google and Pornhub are the only companies on earth with enough potential server space to host something like YouTube.

Well, we all know which most of us prefer then.
Dre801
I've experienced the slowdown on my laptop with FireFox. I have 24 cores and 64GB of RAM and it acted like I was using piss slow internet and like my CPU was being thrashed. Sure enough, after flipping the Off switch on my Adblock and refreshing, it was fine. SMH.
Reputator
I use ublock origin but I leave it turned off on YouTube and I haven't had issues.
cusideabelincoln
I do not notice this issue, but I don't use Adblock. I use Ublock Origin and Adguard. 2 hours ago, Reputator said: I use ublock origin but I leave it turned off on YouTube and I haven't had issues. Add the following code to the My Filters section of uBo and you can block Youtube ads and not get the "video player will be blocked" message from Youtube. youtube.com##+js(set, yt.config_.openPopupConfig.supportedPopups.adBlockMessageViewModel, false) youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adBlocksFound, 0) youtube.com##+js(set, ytplayer.config.args.raw_player_response.adPlacements, []) youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.hasAllowedInstreamAd, true)
Fizzzzle
PSA: if you watch YouTube with an ad blocker, you're essentially pirating content. In my mind there's a difference between pirating from a big corporation vs. pirating from, like, some dude named Cody who makes everything himself.

Spork3245
Adblock: Google did not slow down and lag YouTube performance with ad blocker on WWW.NEOWIN.NET According to several user reports online, Google was apparently slowing YouTube down if it detected adblockers. However, Adblock has now confirmed that such is not the case at all. Looks like this was a bug from Adblock itself and not from Google/YouTube
