Commissar SFLUFAN
Supposedly, the "motion to vacate" threshold wasn't even brought up during the GOP meeting and therefore there is no change to the current one vote requirement. Amazing. Simply amazing.

Apparently it's not necessarily the case that they have to get a new Speaker before they can do anything else and that may just be a requirement for the start of a new Congress. Commissar SFLUFAN
Scalise Spent Over $500,000 at DC Capital Grille Since 2011 Quote There are at least a dozen Republican votes against the Speaker nomination of Steve Scalise. He still doesn't have the votes, setting up a nasty Floor battle tomorrow that Republicans desperately wanted to avoid. The defectors all say they still intend to vote for Jim Jordan, even though he was defeated by Scalise in conference. Now things could be getting even worse. Allies of Jim Jordan are reportedly circulating FEC reports to Scalise voters showing that he ran up a tab of over $500,000 at the DC Capital Grille since 2011. Although this could for some show that Scalise just appears to have an appetite for lots of steak and fine wine, the argument being made that it shows he is a DC swamp creature engorging himself on the trappings of power.

Commissar SFLUFAN
Per CNN's Manu Raju: Quote Lot of problems for Scalise. Just talked to Gimenez, Massie, Roy, Ogles, Max Miller. All are NO on Scalise. Massie says he’s a “hard no.” At least a dozen others are in same camp. He can only afford to lose four Rs. Also, Quote Newsmax is reporting that Steve Scalise is going to drop out and other people are jumping in Kevin's still angling to get the job back! Quote MCCARTHY says it’s a “big hill” for Scalise. He said Scalise was telling people he could get 150 votes — which he obviously fell way short of in the closed-door election. “He wasn’t there,” McCarthy said.
