Full retail title of rebooted series This was originally supposed to be Season 2 of the rebooted series, but the developer bought themselves out from Square-Enix. Hitman was rebooted as an episodic release that didn’t do as well as SE hoped for it. I forgot the details but IO was able to keep the rights and become independent and are now releasing Hitman 2. There are rumors of a remake of an older Hitman title.
GeneticBlueprint
Damn. I've bought 3 games in the past month which is more than I've purchased in the past year... and now I have to get this. It's going to take me forever to play these things.

Commissar SFLUFAN
Polygon - "Polygon Recommends" As someone who loves the Hitman formula, Hitman 2 gives me everything I want. Six maps may seem like a small number, especially when you can Netflix-binge them in a single sitting as opposed to the trickle-release of its predecessor. But each space is vibrant, the setpieces are quite memorable, and the subtle but effective updates strengthen all of what made 2016’s Hitman so incredible. This is certainly more of the same, but this new version of Hitman was built for this style of iteration. Hitman 2 is a wonderful continuation of the series, upgrading enough to feel fresh without breaking the foundation. A perfect execution. Game Informer - 80% Like Agent 47 himself, Hitman 2 doesn’t take a lot of chances – instead it continues honing its underlying formula to a deadly precision. A part of me still longs for the smaller and more digestible maps of the older games, but I can’t argue with IO’s execution here – the levels, and memorable assassination opportunities they hold, are worth the investment. Destructoid - 80% Hitman 2 is a colossal collection of puzzles begging to be solved through multiple playthroughs. It's meticulous in its scoring system, objectives, and unlocks. Even though this would have worked perfectly as a "season two" for the original Hitman, the need for a new package is perfectly understandable given their situation. I don't even need the Sean Bean and company timed challenges or the promising now-in-beta Ghost Mode (an asymmetrical gametype where you try to kill more targets than an opponent that exists in an alternate reality): just keep giving me more maps and I'll keep playing. Windows Central - 80% IO Interactive set out to perfect the assassination sandbox with Hitman 2. Though the studio fell short, Hitman 2 is a commendable stealth experience that fans of the series shouldn't miss out on. Its future now rests in whether or not its Ghost Mode and celebrity elusive targets can hold people's attention. GameSkinny - 80% When sequels are described as "more of the same," that's usually a bad thing, but not in this case. Hitman 2 is really just season two of Hitman, but it's so big and interesting that I didn't mind. Fans of stealth, exploration, and jaw-dropping violence will find a lot to love here—as long as the clumsy DRM isn't a complete deal-breaker. Game Rant - 80% All in all, Hitman 2 doesn’t break too much new ground for the series, for in many respects it can be viewed as Hitman: Season Two. Nevertheless, IO Interactive has brought a bevy of remarkable updates to the table that make the sequel a worthy successor to the game that came before it. From its impressively designed locations to its deep level of replayability, Hitman 2 ought to give players more than enough reasons to remain steeped in its self-proclaimed “World of Assassination” and should serve as a superbly efficient time killer for months to come. ComiConverse - 80% The game’s approach to player choice, open-world stealth action and replayability makes for an outstanding installment in the series. All of the traditional Hitman elements are here, from insane costumes and silly ways to kill targets. Exploring each one of the creative levels was a thrilling experience to explore and makes for smart approaches in killing targets. I enjoyed these elements, as they feel true to franchise roots. Hitman 2 doesn’t reinvent proceedings but doubles down on the impressive stealth mechanics and open-ended game design. IO Interactive delivers another great installment, which should offer countless hours of crazy assassinations. I look forward to the see where Agent 47 goes next! Because this was a great adventure. Brian
After watching Easy Allies group stream, I booted up Hitman on Xbox Game Pass. I always thought Hitman to be a too serious, unforgiving series but watching them goof around made me give it a chance.
