TwinIon
The western that this game has made me think of is The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. It's very much about the gang that surrounds a great man and addresses the myth making of the old west. It's slow and contemplative, and when the lighting is just right they have a similar glow. Bacon
I think the only western I have seen is 3:10 to Yuma. I have seen two other westerns but those don't count.
CastlevaniaNut18
I remember seeing most of Tombstone back in the day, but I couldn't tell you much about it, aside from watching Val Kilmer die. I just associate westerns with the boring ass crap my in-laws always have on the TV every fucking time I visit them. It's sooo painful. To hunt the legendary animal, you have to track clues that the animal leaves and I think use bait to lure it out. I lost my legendary bear carcass after I killed it and would like to get it back if that's possible So the only actual legendary animals are the ones on the legendary map? as for hunting the legendary animal...how do you even initiate the hunt? You need to randomly stumble on the clues?

I've only done the one Bear hunt so far but I did do it on my own. Like I left the area, came back and initiated the hunt by tracking finding the clues. Bloodporne
Okay, seeing how I'll actually start this from the beginning with the absolutely best intentions in mind, what are the crucial control and game options I have to tweak first? I've seen a lot of posts mentioning dead zones, this, that and the other. What's all the stuff I should be changing? Also, what control scheme do I go with that's easiest AND is first person viable enough that I can just start that way and not regret it? It seems controls would be easiest to handle in FP mode. Maybe there's already a list post here and I missed it?

CastlevaniaNut18
Alright, I got through chapter one and then some tonight. Did my first bounty hunt. I continue to stand by my gripes from earlier, but I am enjoying the game more now. Kind of a bummer that I'm going to be working 5 of the next 6 nights, immediately followed by a hunting trip. It's gonna be a minute before I get back into the game. The world is impressively detailed, i'll say that. I'm eager to explore it more. Bacon
And with the fact that so far, this game does not take place in the west at all, RDR2 really could have been a Post Civil War game. I mean, it kinda is already, but the Civil War isn't that much of a deal in RDR2. All mentions of it could be removed and it would generally be the same. Something that I meant to talk about the other day but I forgot, was something that is both good and bad. And that is just all the shit there is to discover. I am the kind of person who wants to find all the cool shit that is hidden and not everyone was meant to find, but that is practically impossible and I don't like that. I don't know If I am getting my point across, but maybe this spoiler will help. There are no story spoilers, and it isn't even a random event, but it is just a cool ass detail that you may come across on your own but maybe not. So, I happened to find a cabin in the woods. Spoiler No one where there so I figured it was abandoned. I went inside and it was a two room cabin. I looted the main room, and everything was fine, but then I approached the door to the second room and when I opened up the door a very eerie ambiance started playing. Nothing odd was in the second room but that spooky ambiance was still playing. Then I opened the door back to the main room. In the middle of the floor was a skeleton in a dress. A woman who had died long ago. I then noticed a note on the table. I can't be sure if I missed it when I was first in the main room or if it spawned or only became intractable after the skeleton appeared. And I don't know if the skeleton was there the whole time and fell from the ceiling(like she hanged herself or something) or if the game just spawned it. Anyway, the letter was from her lover/boyfriend. He was fighting for the south, although he had no desire to, and leaving would get him killed. He talked about how he couldn't believe that he fell in love with her, a supporter of the union. That was pretty much it and the ambiance ended when left the cabin. Sometime later I was hunting a prefect Boar. I snuck up on it but it before I could fire it ran away. So I chased it down and was able to get a clean kill on it. Well, when I killed it, the boar fell against a tree. When I walked up to the tree, there was a skeleton in a Confederate uniform impaled onto the tree via a bayoneted rifle. I didn't think anything of it and called my horse over. While it was coming over I decided to looked at the skeleton in first person for more detail. When I did I noticed a small satchel with a letter hanging out. I am sure you already know, but the letter was from the previous skeleton woman and this was the man who sent her the previous letter, dead and impaled. When I realized I lost my shit. That has to be one of my favorite moments in gaming. I love that shit, but I hate that I could have missed it.

The constant motion and animation. Most FP games have limited character animations which is great. The screen is always steady. I feel like I am on a boat in this games FP view. I don't get motion sickness or anything. Never have. It is just unsteady, like a boat on water. At least for me.
Mercury33
So I’m very early in chapter 2. Like 1/2 missions in early. I found a random house a ways north of your camp. It had a house and a barn and a lot of animal skeletons scattered about... Spoiler I could get into the house. Despite looking run down outside it was really ice looking inside, found the snapping turtle cigg card. Nothing else of note. The barn on the other hand despite being able to see a light inside I wasn’t able to get inside. I just kept slamming into the the door but it wouldn’t budge. Any who I figure something cool is inside, anyone know how to get in?
