Commissar SFLUFAN
I imagine the interview went something like this: Barbara Broccoli: Are you willing to kill off 007? Cary Fukunaga: Absolutely. Barbara Broccoli: You're hired.

Keyser_Soze
Waiting for @Greatoneshere hype before I get excited. Actually turns out I've seen a movie by this fella, Jane Eyre, which I enjoyed!

Can do: This is an even better choice than Danny Boyle. Hiring a notoriously difficult (but excellent!) director like Cary Joji Fukunaga (directed Sin Nombre, Jane Eyre, True Detective season 1, and Beasts of No Nation) is Denis Villeneueve levels of good. As good as Boyle is, I think Fukunaga is going to make a very interesting film, which is what Bond needs, especially in a film that likely will send Craig off. Presumably, the Broccoli's and the studio know Fukunaga's reputation and hired him anyway (he was going to do It: Chapter 1 and 2 until he was fired for sticking to his artistic vision for the film, yet they used his screenplay for part 1 . . .) so I think we should expect to see a really non-traditional, but really good Bond film. He hasn't made even close to a bad movie yet. I'm all for it.
