brucoe
I was a strong conservative right up through the Reagan years. Saw liberals as weak and spineless, mainly because I was in the service and bought the erroneous lie that Republicans stood for military and patriotism. I was right about Trump from day one, projecting that there was no way a woman was going to defeat him. People kept saying I was wrong and I kept telling them the Electoral College doesn't work as they believed. Even criticized Nate Silver, comparing Trump's campaign to the mule effect. I wish I had been wrong.

My wife and I get invited to lots of social functions and I kinda hate it. I loved that brief window where there was no expectation of accepting an invite even after things opened back up because people were at least kinda OK with others having Covid caution still, so declining to attend was just chalked up to that. stepee
I used to think that spontaneous combustion was something where your body would randomly explode like in a Michael Bay film with no rhyme or reason and that it was common enough to fear that it would happen to me.

It was a reasonable fear for those of us old enough to have lived through a time period where wearing our older siblings hand me down whale cords was a reality. The thigh friction was always dancing on the edge of thermal disaster!

thewhyteboar
I thought Dustin Ackley was going to win a boatload of batting titles. I had someone on IGN make an icon for me that I proudly displayed.

I think this came up here, but the way we talked in 6th - 8th grade had me thinking we'd have lost at LEAST 6 girls to toxic shock syndrome before we all graduated high school. MarSolo
I still watch Bill Maher weekly, love the Crooked Media guys, and still think the fourth Indiana Jones movie only gets hate because it was the cool thing to do back in 2008 and most people have never actually watched it. Same with the fourth Die Hard movie.

Greatoneshere
Live Free or Die Hard (uncut version) is a legit pretty solid Die Hard movie. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was fine. It wasn't an atrocity and it wasn't a great movie. It's just kind of there. My wife and I went through all 4 Indy movies recently, neither of us being particularly attached to the character and franchise, and 1 and 3 are the best, and 2 and 4 aren't nearly as bad as people say they are. That doesn't mean they're good though either.
Anathema-
Crystal Skull was distractingly sad, can't be sure it was bad. Super obvious that Ford wasn't doing any of the things they were pretending Indy could suddenly do.
Anathema-
And being upset at Shia Labeouf at that point is very fair.
