CitizenVectron
Jesus Christ. Similar earthquakes in a different region of Turkey in 1999 killed over 17,000. This is going to be very bad.

CitizenVectron
What are good charities that provide aid in Turkiye? I've seen one recommended quite a bit in a resetera thread, but it only accepts wire transfers. I assume the Red Cross operates there? EDIT - I also only just found out this morning through this that Turkey changed its English-spelling to Turkiye (technically Türkiye). Commissar SFLUFAN
It's worth noting that the worst-affected areas in Syria are NOT under the control of the central government in Damascus, but fall under the purview of Turkish-controlled opposition groups. Buffalo got a 3.8 quake at 6:15am but my region was said to be closer to 4.2 I know minuscule in comparison but Mother Nature/Gaya/Whoever is going to be a weird bitch of a year to us. I moved to Detroit from Seattle and a few months later their big 2001 earthquake hit. When I came back to the U.S. from Chile their giant one in 2010 hit only a few months after I left.
