crispy4000
Call of Duty has been left off Nintendo platforms for almost a full 10 years: CoD Ghosts on Wii U released in 2013. Sounds like a play to stave off regulators.
Xbob42
Hard to make a claim they're restricting consumer access if they're expanding where the game is available. Makes sense.

Brian
Microsoft Announces Bizarre Pledge To Bring Call of Duty To Nintendo Consoles KOTAKU.COM It's a '10-year commitment' that also includes continued support on Steam as well Commitment to be on Steam as well. Gabe responds Quote We're happy that Microsoft wants to continue using Steam to reach customers with Call of Duty when their Activision acquisition closes. Microsoft has been on Steam for a long time and we take it as a signal that they are happy with gamers reception to that and the work we are doing. Our job is to keep building valuable features for not only Microsoft but all Steam customers and partners. Microsoft offered and even sent us a draft agreement for a long-term Call of Duty commitment but it wasn't necessary for us because a) we're not believers in requiring any partner to have an agreement that locks them to shipping games on Steam into the distant future b) Phil and the games team at Microsoft have always followed through on what they told us they would do so we trust their intentions and c) we think Microsoft has all the motivation they need to be on the platforms and devices where Call of Duty customers want to be. Gabe responds Valve’s in the right here. They don’t need a deal signed just so Microsoft scores brownie points with regulators. Nintendo on the other hand was probably chomping at the bit. 3rd parties are only there for them when their platform is a breakthrough success. Even then, mainstays like CoD, Madden and GTA are spotty at best for them.
LazyPiranha
It’s easy for valve to be in the right when every competing pc distribution has failed to capture any decent chunk of the market. They don’t need Microsoft to pledge a ten year deal with them, they can basically make Microsoft kiss the ring if they please. What are they going to do, make a windows store exclusive and lost countless sales?

Activision got greedy with their own storefront, but Microsoft already threw in the towel. The acquisition meant CoD was returning to Steam. silentbob
Now if they could only come to an agreement and allow gamepass to work through steam store. Just be a lot easier for us SteamDeck owners to play with
