I don't know what it is, but this music video/trailer encapsulates everything that made DD1 great. It has a whole vibe that DD2 just lacks.

DD1 felt like this video but DD2 does not and it makes me sad.

What a crock of shit. I just played through DD1, it was a janky ass experience that, town performance aside, makes DD2 look like a AAA masterpiece. It had a bland, lifeless world, the NPCs were fucking worst in class, the stamina system blew ass, climbing on monsters was lame as shit and barely worked, damage calculations were all fucked up so most of the time you were either basically invincible or you were doing chip damage, goddamn that game pissed me off so much. People gargling its balls for years and I finally buckle down and beat it and it's so fucking lame.

Not to mention the stupid fucking quests with bizarre requirements to unlock more gear. Here, escort this random little girl around town. If you fail any of our strict, invisible requirements, you'll get a piece of shit item instead of the one that adds new gear to shops. Also it'll autosave. So don't fuck it up nerd!

I like how DD2 tells you up front about the passage of time and that some missions can be messed up if you don't do them in time. In the first game I'm pretty sure there was only one or two missions like that and it doesn't tell you other than "You need to finish this in 2 days" and I was like holy shit I better get going! :p

Having almost completed 2, I think what I want from this team is something like this (which may be happening with the next MH game):

Give me an open world in the vein of DD and put a bunch of monster hunter style monsters in there so I can encounter them without all the weird instanced way the MH games do it. Make it multiplayer and all that. Maybe get a little less ambitious in spirit / seriousness of plot (like I like a lot of what they allude to in DD but there's not no payoff IMO). And like the internet made such a big deal of that pawn illness that turns them evil... never encountered it personally. It just seemed like a lot of awesome ideas that were implemented in a half-baked way, so I ended up feeling like it was a game with immense potential that in the end felt like it needed another year of development or something.

I did encounter the plague at the very end. I dismissed my hired pawns for a quest, and I went to re-summon them and the one was infected! I promptly dismissed her since I just wanted to beat the game, but it was neat.

Frame Gen has officially been added and also storage increased to 3000!

Still waiting on that "performance patch" though, but I haven't played it in a minute, maybe it runs better without a patch that explicitly says performance patch.

The X was posted at 6:30pm so I don't know how recently you played but I would say within that time period it just came out. :p

Yep it was like 7:30 and I downloaded an update then too. And this is a laptop cpu and I was mostly 85fps or so with frame gen so pretty damn good, makes sense because I thought it had ran more in the 60s before.

And I’m talking in the large city! It’s 100+ in the wilderness but it was less cpu limited there anyway

Any chance it's not gonna make my PC sound like it's gonna go nuclear? I've tried playing this a few times but I always stop before long because my computer gets so loud it's distracting and quite frankly, a bit scary.

What cooler and cpu do you have and when's the last time you dusted your PC?

It's not dusty, I keep the vents pretty clean. Not sure what cooler I have on there but I have little mister spray bottle I squirt into the intake vent on the front. Seems to work ok so far.

Actually on this tip, I KNOW I haven't dusted mine in a long time and the fans have been a tad loud So I decided to give it a nice blow. Although I haven't played anything that would give it a run for it's money yet it was due.

Have you ever manually set the fan curves in the bios?

I know for me something happened and my computer sounded too loud even at idle speeds. So I ran some benchmarks to see what the idle temp was and like a temperature of a heavy load then adjusted accordingly. So like 50% fan speed while idling and then I think I have it max out around 85% to 100% (I don't know the exact numbers without going into the bios right now which I don't feel like doing. :p )
