Brick
Wait, Factions won't be included? I didn't hear that before. That sucks if true. Still, for anyone who hasn't played the game before this is probably the version to get (on sale ).

Best
I just watched a new video on this and it does look like nothing was improved with combat etc. Just much more detail in characters and the world. Also better AI both enemy and friendly. So...I don't know what to think. If I had a PS5 I'd probably buy it for $70 because it's easily one of my favorite games ever. Commissar SFLUFAN
Alright, Naughty Dog - you absolutely get major kudos from me for these particular enhancements. Just not "$70 From Me In Particular" kudos Fans Praise The Last Of Us Part 1's Accessibility Options WWW.THEGAMER.COM "Every single accessibility option that we offer, that's a barrier removed for someone." Quote Naughty Dog has revealed The Last of Us Part 1's accessibility features, and they're being praised as one of the best parts of the game. One of the most praised elements of The Last of Us Part 2 was its wide suite of accessibility features, including options for hearing, vision, motor functions, input remapping, motion sickness, and more. It was widely regarded as the best suite of accessibility options in gaming up to that point, and Naughty Dog looks to be making it the norm moving forward as it's included all of them and more in The Last of Us Part 1. SaysWho?
Lots of improvements and accessibility features, including audio descriptions built into the game/cinematics. The AI of the enemies and allies is improved now, and how they react will be different than how they did in the first game. 3D Audio sounds promising. All I can say is: the internet's reaction to leaks, and the fanboys who come in "just asking questions" about bad things they've supposedly seen or concluded, will never not be hilarious to me. TwinIon
This is a game that I look forward to revisiting with all the upgrades, but I feel zero need to rush into. I expect the price to drop pretty fast, and probably even in time for the holiday season. I can't help but feel like a remake right now is premature, but I also respect the work they're doing on this remake to make it as polished as possible. Watching that most recent video made me wish there was a more comprehensive PS5 update for Part 2. I wonder if that's in the works at all or if they'll just remaster it for the PS6 down the road.
Dodger
Yeah all right I’m only dropping $70 if it has the improved gameplay from part 2. Also they say Factions is now a massive stand alone project. They better deliver on that because if it’s just original Factions with better graphics and a couple new maps Sony can just straight get fucked. Phaseknox
6 hours ago, SaysWho? said: To me it looks like the first game rebuilt using The Last of Us Part II’s graphics, so I’m sure that they could have released it on PS4 as well just at 30fps instead of 60. But I’m guessing that they didn’t want to do that since the PS4 already has the remastered version, and they couldn’t tout it as being remade from the ground up for PS5 that way and charge $70 for it. I have no doubt that it’s going to be the definitive version of the game, but $70 seems really pricey for it IMO. But I don’t really care, because it will be $20 by the time that I get a PS5. Brick
What gameplay enhancements from the second game are the complainers looking for in this game exactly? Things like dodging I remember Naughty Dog saying they put in because they wanted Ellie to feel more nimble, and quicker than Joel given her smaller stature, so that's why she can dodge, go prone, squeeze through tight spaces, etc. The gameplay enhancements Naughty Dog talked about previously very well could have been the haptic feedback, 3D audio, accessibility options, and such stated in that video, and people got it in their minds they meant something else, so when it came out it wasn't matching what they were thinking they got all upset, and like the Internet always does, threw a tantrum. Now does that mean this remake warrants a 70 dollar price tag? Probably not, especially without the original multiplayer, likely because Sony doesn't want it competing with the new Factions multiplayer that's being developed, but Sony knows they can get away with that 70 dollar MSRP because of the whales who will buy it right away, so in that case just wait for it to be on sale at like $40. Unless you're someone who has never played this game before, it's not like this is a day one rush out and buy it right away game anyway; we've all already played it before. Yes, that's exactly what the "complainers" are referring to and rightly so. When Naughty Dog originally referred to "gameplay enhancements", I would say that it would be perfectly reasonable to assume that they did mean actual gameplay elements from the sequel and not what amounts to "quality of life" enhancements (not that I'm downplaying the accessibility options in the least) and not "gameplay" ones. Naughty Dog essentially set themselves up for the negative reaction by not using the term "quality of life" from the outset. Had they done so, then expectations for the product would've been reasonably set though I still maintain that those simply aren't "$70 expectations". crispy4000
Would enemy/partner AI upgrades not be considered “gameplay” updates? I haven’t played either, so I can’t compare, but from the outside looking it doesn’t seem entirely black and white. At least with that. Did they say if they’ve updated any of the in-game animations? Partner AI is more just immersion, as in the first game, they literally would be sneaking around in front of the enemies during stealth segments, and the enemies would just not see them. I think in the 2nd game, they actually got noticed and would trigger enemies. Not sure if that'll be the case in this Remake, or if the partner AI will hide better, but stil be invisible. Enemy AI, I'd hope will improve the gameplay, but I never found the enemy AI in LoU2 to feel all that different than any other game. They always seemed to do the same patterns as any other cover/stealth shooter I played. See a body, call backup, slowly approach body to be killed in the same way, see's a pile of 5 bodies, slowly walks up to pile to investigate. HardAct
Both games are absolutely MASTERPIECES already. Some games just need to left alone. 2 of my all time PS games ever easily and I'll never double or triple dip it's just STUPID! Yes buy it if for whatever reason you missed out on playing it back in the day, but for those of us that have played and loved this franchise already it's shameful how they expect us to rebuy these games with minimum effort on their part. They really need to better ear our dollars I believe! GREAT GAME though, just fantastic stories to play through and experience.

I just see it as the terminally online making a mountain out of a molehill as always. Would be nice to have more updates to the game for sure, but it's not even a decade old yet, so it honestly didn't need this remastered remaster to begin with. While the AI in TLoU2 never gets anywhere near as lulzy as Ellie running into and shoving indifferent clickers from the original game, the enemies are still extremely dumb. It's fine, it doesn't really impact the game all that much given that the level / encounter is typically interesting by itself. But the AI in these games isn't all that good.
