Commissar SFLUFAN
I'm assuming that this is his "retaliation" to this recent Federal court ruling that went against his executive orders.
PaladinSolo
So with the way government budgets work this doesn't save any money, what's left over is put into a general fund and/or spent on something else

osxmatt
This would have cost the government about $25 billion. Didn’t we increase defense spending this year by roughly $30 billion?

Didn’t we increase defense spending this year by roughly $30 billion? It's still going to cost the government 25 billion, it will literally be spent on something else, likely something pointless. Every year my department doesn't spend almost 25% of its fuel budget, roughly $100k, despite this our budget never drops because that money goes back into a fund that administration then gets to spend on just about anything. So if a department doesn't spend money allocated for raises they get to spend it elsewhere.
Jason
Quote President Donald Trump said he's planning to spend the weekend studying up on the issue of government compensation a day after alerting lawmakers he was moving to freeze pay for federal employees. https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/31/politics/donald-trump-corey-stewart-federal-pay/index.html Trump? Study?
