Bloodporne
I only have Prime and Netflix but rarely find myself even going into Netflix at this point. The only reason I do now is when I go on the millionth Seinfeld or Comedians In Cars binge. Last show I watched was Archive 81 and they cancelled that shit right away so. I watched Archive 81 too and was pretty sad to see it go but wasn't shocked. I still watch a decent amount of stuff on Netflix... a lot of their true crime doc series and an occasional movie or two. Their original films are still hit or miss particular their horror stuff but Black Crab was good. You know who has a surprising amount of good horror films? Hulu. They go around to film festivals scooping up this well made horror gems. I have about five of them on my list to watch when I'm in the mood. Yeah I didn't think Archive 81 was amazing or anything but there was something about it. Until they inevitably Spoiler started overexplaining everything it often had a surreal Silent Hill vibe. I also love Horror with isolated/enclosed locations that people just can't get away from.
Guest
Having 3 kids between the ages of 10-15, I am very familiar with Mr Beast. Given the amount of trash on YouTube, I’m kinda glad when they watch his stuff, or Mark Rober. Harmless fun.

Dodger
The problem with Squid Game is that it was a one time conversation. Like hey did you watch Squid Game yeah and that was it because you both already watched all of it. I remember during the last season of GoT every Monday people were talking about it. Back when people cared about Walking Dead that’s all everyone seemingly talked about on Monday and was all over my Facebook every Sunday back when people cared about Facebook. Netflix was great when it was the only game in town but has really gone downhill losing all that third party content.

thewhyteboar
Binging is great when you’ve got nothing else to do, but it’s a terrible model to keep your shows in the public eye. No one cares about Netflix shows a week after they air. They don’t drive any pop culture conversations. 1 1

Fizzzzle
I think weekly is the way to go generally, but I do wish more platforms did what Disney did with Hawkeye and release the first two episodes at the same time. Moon Knight could have benefited from that

Commissar SFLUFAN
Netflix’s Subscriber Loss Has Destroyed Employee Morale (Bloomberg) Quote But a record decline in Netflix’s share price, precipitated by its poor financial results, has shaken employees’ confidence in the company’s long-term trajectory. It has also erased the value of many employees’ options. People who were sitting on tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars are left with nothing. More people are looking to leave Netflix right now than at any point in recent memory, current and former employees said this past week. Netflix employees also asked leadership to issue new stock grants to make them whole for the losses this past week, per The Information. TwinIon
I haven't looked a the numbers to say if Netflix was overvalued and the market is just correcting or if the market is really overreacting to this news, but overall I think people are overreacting to this news. Netflix changed the game, but it's been obvious for a long time now that this was not a winner take all scenario. The point we're at now is exactly what everyone expected a decade ago when Netflix started making their own content. Everyone knew that eventually basically every content creator would eventually make their own Netflix, and now not only has that happened, but we've also seen new competitors like Apple and Amazon. I think Netflix has done a pretty decent job of building up their content portfolio as quickly as possible, so I think they'll be fine. Yeah, they're not as good at making watercooler shows as HBO and they're no Disney when it comes to making movies, but I think they bought themselves more time to get there than expected.

Yeah, its definitely an adjustment from just a few years ago when they were the only game in town. People were always going to pick and choose, and sub for a month here and there to some, and always for others. The infinite growth of being the only player can't last forever. But also, Netflix has pissed people off. Every show gets canceled before it's natural end. I think Last Kigdom is one of the few that got one. If a show underperformed, fucking write better, and direct better, Don't just bail after 8 episodes on everything that isn't immediately loved. That has certainly been a reason im subbed to them for fewer months every year, while I generally have hbo, and now Disney year round. Prime Video is just in my Amazon Prime sub, and honestly, I watch it more than Netflix too. Re-watching BSG now.

If I remember correctly, every video he makes gets translated to other languages and are all voice acted. Sounds like such a huge undertaking but smart as hell. Take it worldwide for bigger audience. Viewers don't have to read subtitles, they can hear someone speaking in their native language.
